Default Gruesome Manitoba Bus killing

A passenger on a Greyhound bus traveling through Manitoba, Canada, is accused of repeatedly stabbing his seatmate before decapitating the man, CBC News reported.

On Wednesday evening, Canadian police detained an unidentified man suspected of the murder. The victim, also unnamed, appeared to be about 19 years old.

According to CBC News, the attacker was seated next to his victim, who was sleeping with headphones on, when he began stabbing him repeatedly with a large knife.

The suspect had been on the bus for about an hour and didn't even sit near his victim at first.

"He sat in the front at first, everything was normal," Passenger Garnet Caton said.

"We went to the next stop and he got off and had a smoke with another young lady there. When he got on the bus again, he came to the back near where I was sitting."

When the victim began screaming, the bus pulled over and more than 30 passengers fled. The driver, along with a passenger and a trucker who had stopped at the scene then boarded the bus in an attempt to help the victim, the CBC reported.

"When we came back on the bus, it was visible at the end of the bus he was cutting the guy's head off and pretty much gutting him up," Caton told the CBC.

The attacker reportedly lunged at the three men, who managed to trap him inside the bus until authorities arrived.

"While we were watching the door, he calmly walks up to the front with the head in his hand and the knife and just calmly stares at us and drops the head right in front of us," said Caton.

Fellow passenger Cody Olmstead told Brandon radio station CKLQ that the man "dropped the head and went back and started cutting the body back up."

According to the CBC, passengers were traumatized by the event and many required counseling after witnessing the brutal attack.

This really sucks for the poor victim and his family. Snoozing, listening to music = gruesome death? Holy crap!!

That was pretty scary.

That's horrific.
I don't know what I would do if i were put in the situation of the passengers... it seems like everyone ran away... I can't say I wouldn't do the same, but I can only hope that if I were ever put in that situation, I would have the strength and courage to act decisively

i think three holding the door and bus driving disabling the bus was acting courageously and decisive. i don't think anyone would be able to react in such a situation past following the first persons reaction. you'd be in shock, no mind should be ready for a scenario, especially on a late night bus trip when everyone is half a sleep.

Yeah, I felt so nauceous after hearing about that yesterday morning. Seeing or hearing about stuff like this in movies is one thing, but when it actually happens is just disgusting.

Where do you think Authors and screenwriters get thier material?

I am not one to be put off by this stuff. Unfortunately I have always had a pretty decnt grasp of what goes on on this planet.

Everyday people are tortured, and raped and killed by sick and unstable human beings.

Its random, and completely unavoidable. The media will whip us all into a frenzy, travellers will talk on waiting platforms, wary of their fellow pasengers, cold, and clammy handed they will stare straight ahead in fear as the stories get hammered into them night after night, on every television, in every paper. It's so sad it makes me sick. I'm sure we all have been touched in one way or another by random violent events, we are all a little experienced, do we forget? Do we block out the confused feelings?

I remember a song that used to rattle around in my head;

So Long BernieIt's like watching murder through your fingers at the theatre
It's like finding out Klaus Barbie was your neighbour... only weirder
And when I saw you on the tube...
With a six-foot cop on either side of you...
That's when I knew

That's when I knew, that's when I knew
All the pain that was shacked up inside of you
Well, so long Bernie you're the friend I never knew
And never will...

She didn't even know your name
But you put a six-inch blade inside her all the same
She couldn't possibly know why
And when you became Doctor Jekyll you knew you had to hide

So now I know, yeah, now I know
All the pain that was in your mind is still inside your soul
Well so long Bernie you're the friend I'll never know
I'll never know

You're the beast inside us all
The straw that breaks
The wire that snaps
You're all the pressure built up in this pitiful machine

So, now your mind is full of blood
A simple scream in place of every single thing you've done
They found her in a field
And when they found you swinging, well noone shed a tear
When they found you dangling, well, noone shed a tear
Ah, when they found you hanging...
Why would they shed a tear?
Why shed one tear?

Well now I know, yeah, now I know
I look at strangers different than I did a year ago
But you know Bernie it's my closest friends I'd better get to know

Some of you may know it, Lowest of the Low.

It was written more than a decade ago. The writer is talking about the Greyhound bus hurtling down an empty highway in Manitoba. He's talking about the guy sitting beside a 19 year old boy, quietly sleeping with his IPOD on. He's writing about us all.

This is all over every regional newspaper, website and everything around here. People in Winnipeg are shook up in general

The guy, allegedly, was showing no emotion as he butchered the kid, so I think it's fairly safe to assume that he had some pretty serious mental issues.

Makes you think about the security on buses, trains, etc. That is to say, there's none. You can walk on there with whatever you want. It was obviously an isolated incident, but it'll still raise some concerns, I'm sure.

All the thoughts and prayers in the world to the victim's family and friends though. I've lost a friend to a random, senseless killing, and it's absolutely terrible, so I can't even imagine how this guy's immediate family and loved ones feel.

Swag.

What questions does it raise?

What part of the activity of riding a bus caused the incident?

Dude woulda killed a guy anywhere.
