I agree, but you cant take away that because of Nirvana you had kids everywhere wearing Cardigans, Vans and Flannel. They had some serious influence over the music industry.

Absolutely, but Neil Young was wearing flannel too and is deemed the godfather of grunge.

Personally, I prefer Soundgarden and Alice in Chains as my Seattle bands of choice.

Some may laugh at this suggestion, but how about the Beach Boys? Some of their earlier work is extremely good oh and if we're talking about British alternative, how about The Smith's? The Cure for goth music or even Ministry.

Oh and let's not forget bands like Dire Straits (one of my personal favourites) and The Band (the greatest Canadian band of all time)

Really you could name a million bands...Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Supertramp, Chicago, Yes, Genesis, Steely Dan, The Guess Who, Emerson, Lake and Plamer, The Grateful Dead, The Kinks, The Police, King Crimson, The Doobie Brothers, The Allman Brothers....its all so subjective.

Claud, absolutely The Beach Boys are up there.

Music is subjective to the individual, so there can really be no definitive answer.

But its obvious to me, Spice Girls.
