20's.

Jazz age
roaring 20's
golden 20's

speakeasy's, jazz, flappers, early sexual revolution...

joyce publishes ulysses, hesse publishes siddhartha, hemingway and fitzgerald in full form.

surrealism, art deco, group of seven...

louis armstrong, duke ellington, jelly roll morton, irving berlin, the gershwins...

babe ruth, lou gherig...

i would have been so at home in this decade.

I'd say the Roaring 20's, but since it's not an option I'll say the 60's

I'm a hippie at heart, so I'd like to go back and indulge in the culture.

Also, from a historical standpoint it was a decade that really shaped a lot of things culturally, politically, artistically, etc...

I think the 20s as a cultural decade are fabulous but really I think it gets over blown because of the cultural movements, espescially with the blow up of the jazz scene and other black cultural phenomenon.

The economy was on an upswing, cars, electricty, indoor plumbing and telephones were becoming more widespread and not just luxuries, the 19th Amendment...

i unequivocally vote the 1980's to be the worst decade of that century, depression included. the decade where style, taste, culture and class went out the window, replaced by shallowness, plastic and greed.

except the last couple of van halen albums with david lee roth. they rocked.

AGREED. substitute Van Halen and roth for depeche and the smiths and you're bang on.

The 70's because I've yet to wrap my head around just how fucked up everything was then, in good and bad ways simultaneously.

Those years made me what I am today.

I have a big amount of music from the first half of that decade, and it is unbelievable how much angst is expressed in pretty much every genre. David Lee Roth was one of the few exceptions I suppose, but I really disliked how he put down the Clash at the US Festival and made out like everyone should never think about anything but partying.

After the fucked up 70's, there was nothing legitimate beyond angst. Roth would have had the 70's extended for another ten years, and that would have been more frightening than all the angst.
