Sinister Six Movie Almost Done Deal

Quote:
Last December when Sony announced the Sinister Six movie, it was stated that Drew Goddard will be writing the movie with an eye to direct.

Now it's being reported that the deal is just about sealed as various Hollywood trade sites are reporting that Drew Goddard is close to signing on as director for the Sinister Six movie, which is described by Deadline as an Avengers-like all-star team of bad guys.

It's also reported that both Marvel and Sony hope the Sinister Six movie is the launch of a new franchise. We're guessing as Disney/Marvel hold the merchandising rights to Spider-Man that it continues with the spinoffs (Sony holds Spider-Man film rights).

The Spidey bad guys that will make up the Sinister Six movie are unknown, but it's been said that next month's Amazing Spider-Man 2 will have a connection.

The original Sinister Six in the comics consists of: Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman and The Vulture.

Nathan Fillion Gets Cameo In Guardians of the Galaxy

Quote:
Initially the fan-favorite choice to play Star-Lord, it looks as if Nathan Fillion has a cameo in the James Gunn-directed Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

At a recent Firefly panel in St. Louis, Fillion teased that he might be making an appearance.

“Wanting to get a part? Or maybe did,” Fillion responded when asked about wanting a role in Guardians of the Galaxy.

“Maybe there’ll be a surprise. Maybe check the credits of the movie when you watch it,” Fillion teased.

From Fillion's description, it's possible that he might be playing an alien in make-up as he says to check the credits (because we wouldn't recognize him on screen). Perhaps another possibility could be father to Star-Lord with Jason.

Guardians of the Galaxy Connects To The Avengers 3

Quote:
With three new image stills landing online for Guardians of the Galaxy from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, it's learned that the movie will connect to The Avengers 3.

The article has director James Gunn describing the characters from the movie, in which he adds that Guardians of the Galaxy will "definitely be connected to Avengers 3."

We're speculating that the connection might be Thanos as we confirmed that Thanos would be present in Guardians of the Galaxy from Thanos creator Jim Starlin, who at the time also mentioned the Mad Titan will be in The Avengers 2, with the appearance possibly really meant for The Avengers 3 (or both).

Gunn also offered that motion-capture would be used for Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy, and that he is the "head of the snake." We know that Thanos is Ronan and Nebula's boss, and at one time Gamora's as well.

Gunn actually touched upon the Gamora and Nebula relationship, which we first learned about in a Marvel Comics movie tie-in comic book.

"Thanos slaughtered her family and Nebula's, then raised them together as siblings. They were bio-engineered to become living weapons. So she's really good at killing people," Gunn said about Gamora.

Other tidbits mentioned in the article include that Drax's wife and son were killed by Ronan, and now Drax seeks revenge.

Gunn also drops a hints as to the affiliation of Yondu, played by Michael Rooker, as well as Star-Lord's origins.

"[Star-Lord is] raised in a group of thieves and smugglers called the Ravagers. He's good with the ladies and a little bit of a dick and very lucky," Gunn said.

A previous article mentioned that Yondu raises the young Star-Lord.

it was just a matter of time...here's hoping that it's Damian...love that little shithead

Robin Will Return to DC Comics in Robin Rises: Omega #1

Quote:
This July, Robin will return to DC Comics. A one-shot comic called Robin Rises: Omega #1 by Peter J. Tomasi and Andy Kubert will detail the return of Batman's sidekick, although it is unclear which Robin will be returning. Tomasi's Batman and "Guest" series with artist Patrick Gleason will once again be called Batman and Robin as of issue #33.

The most recent Robin was Damian Wayne, Bruce's 10-year-old son, who was tragically killed in battle last year. Currently, Batman is on the hunt for Ra's al Ghul, Damian's grandfather, who stole the child's body along with his mother's, Talia al Ghul, in hopes of resurrecting both of them in the Lazarus Pits. This would seem to indicate that Damian is the Robin who will return, but in an interview with Hero Complex Tomasi remains adamant that people not assume it's him. Seeing how comic book publishers advertise big deaths and returns months in advance, it seems curious that they are keeping this one a mystery, especially when all signs point toward Damian's return. His coffin is even on the cover. Perhaps they are keeping it a mystery because it's not going to be Damian?

Let's take a look at the other Robins and where they stand now. The announcement says that Robin will "return," meaning it must be a pre-existing Robin. Dick Grayson is going to become a secret agent with his own series, so he's out. Tim Drake is Red Robin on Teen Titans, which is being relaunched in July, so he seems unlikely. Jason Todd is a bitter anit-hero known as the Red Hood starring in Red Hood and the Outlaws, making him just as unlikely. Carrie Kelley was introduced to the New 52 last year, but she was just wearing the Robin duds as a costume and didn't appear to be the crime-fighting type, although that could change. Stephanie Brown looks like she's going to be a big player in Batman Eternal, but we've already seen that she will appear as Spoiler.

have always had a soft spot for this character...grew up watching the old black and white series...awesome stuff for the time

here's hoping they do this character justice

Flash Gordon is Headed Back to the Big Screen!

Quote:
The comic strip science fiction hero Flash Gordon is heading back to the big screen! The Hollywood Reporter today brings word that 20th Century Fox has secured the big screen rights to the character, who celebrates his 80th anniversary this year.

Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne (who are, alongside Roberto Orci, writing the next Star Trek feature film as well) will draft Flash Gordon, based on an outline by The Adjustment Bureau writer/director George Nolfi. There is no word yet on whether or not Nolfi may be looking to direct.

Created by Alex Raymond in 1934, Flash Gordon began life as a serialized comic strip, following the intergalactic adventures of the titular hero, his fellow adventurer and love interest, Dale Arden, and brilliant scientist Dr. Hans Zarkov. Together, the trio explore fantastic interplanetary locales like Mongo, home of the devilish Ming the Merciless.

Tremendously popular in the late 1930s as a trio of big screen serials, Flash Gordon has since been adapted for both the big and small screen in a variety of different forms. Director Mike Hodges' feature film (which boasted a soundtrack by Queen) failed to impress at the box office in 1980, but the movie has since emerged as genuine cult classic. That film's star, Sam J. Jones, played homage to the character in Seth MacFarlane's 2012 comedy Ted.

Two of us couldn't be any more stoked.

Finished her Master Sword 2 nights ago, wife is finishing tunic tonight, and have decided to make a little navi fairy out of Some old tinkerball doll wings and a glow stick to attach to her costume by wire so it floats above her shoulder.

She loves it and I get to dress her up and parade her around like a proud Dad.
