with GOTG on the horizon, it was only a matter of time before Marvel tried to cash in
this could either be a hit or miss...i'll pick up the 1st issue out of curiosity

Rocket Raccoon Gets His Own Comic Series this July!

Quote:
Before he jumps onto the big screen in Marvel Studios' upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Comics (via MTV) has announced that Rocket Raccoon will be getting his very own ongoing comic series from writer/artist Skottie Young.

"Even though it was just a sliver of Rocket [in the trailer], I couldn't wait to work on this guy even more," Young said. "I think it's going to have a connection to that nostalgic feeling for 'Looney Tunes,' that old animated flavor where everything wasn't squeaky clean, you know? Daffy Duck would get his bill blasted off with double barrel shotguns… That's what I grew up watching, and being able to play around with that in this hyper-superhero intergalactic universe will be a lot of fun."

Since debuting in 1976 from the minds of Bill Mantlo and Keith Giffen, Rocket Raccoon has befriended and fought a whole multitude of strange creatures, but Young won't be focusing on tying the new series to the old continuity as his series begins.

"I'm trying not to hinge too much on those kinds of things," Young said. "I'm sure as we get going along, I'll start seeding some of those things through. But my goal right out of the gate was, let's take this cool character, run him around a bit and have some fun… And not worry too much about connecting the crazy continuity right out of the gate."

Rocket Raccoon #1 will debut on July 2. The full solicitation from Marvel reads as follows:

As defenders of the cosmos go, Rocket Raccoon has faced his fair share of galactic battles. He's been a hero to the weak, a champion of good, a protector of the innocent, a heartthrob to the many intergalactic female species and now–a raccoon on the run?! ( I'm sorry, I'm sorry, a "formidable-and-expert-Guardian" on the run. Rocket is NOT a raccoon, okay?) Rocket's high-flying life of adventure and heroism may soon be a thing of the past when he becomes a wanted man–and the authorities are not the only one on his TAIL! (We'll definitely be overusing that pun!) Superstar creator Skottie Young brings his A-game as writer and artist on the series we've been waiting decades for.

Fox’s Gotham Gets Its Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle!

Quote:
Warner Bros. Television and Fox have announced two new additions to their upcoming series "Gotham" which include 13-year-old "Touch" actor David Mazouz as the young Bruce Wayne and Camren Bicondova as the teenage Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman).

For the series, Bruce is described as "not a playboy-by-day, vigilante-by-night, but a preteen who has been sentenced to a solitary life after his parents' tragic murders," while Selina is described as "a teen orphan who is suspicious and wholly unpredictable. A skilled pickpocket and street thief, [she] is pretty dangerous when cornered."

Based upon characters published by DC Comics, "Gotham" is a drama exploring the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham famous. Series regulars cast to date are Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen, Erin Richards as Gordon's fiancee Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot (aka The Penguin), Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean, and Jada Pinkett-Smith as Fish Mooney.

Bruno Heller ("The Mentalist," "Rome") wrote the pilot script and will serve as executive producer on the series. Danny Cannon ("CSI," "Nikita") will direct and executive produce the pilot, which already has a series commitment and is expected to air this fall.

I am so disappointed. I have completely fell off reading comics due to school and lack of money to purchase them at the moment. I really need to play catchup in the summer when I have some time

FOX’s Gotham Reveals a Logo and Official Synopsis

Quote:
Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world's greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon's story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world's most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?

"Gotham" is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), "Gotham" follows one cop's rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.

Growing up in Gotham City's surrounding suburbs, James Gordon (Ben McKenzie, “Southland,” “The O.C.”) romanticized the city as a glamorous and exciting metropolis where his late father once served as a successful district attorney. Now, two weeks into his new job as a Gotham City detective and engaged to his beloved fiancée, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards, Open Grave, “Breaking In”), Gordon is living his dream – even as he hopes to restore the city back to the pure version he remembers it was as a kid.

Brave, honest and ready to prove himself, the newly-minted detective is partnered with the brash, but shrewd police legend Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue, “Sons of Anarchy,” “Terriers,” “Vikings,” “Copper”), as the two stumble upon the city's highest-profile case ever: the murder of local billionaires Thomas and Martha Wayne. At the scene of the crime, Gordon meets the sole survivor: the Waynes' hauntingly intense 12-year-old son, Bruce (David Mazouz, “Touch”), toward whom the young detective feels an inexplicable kinship. Moved by the boy's profound loss, Gordon vows to catch the killer.

As he navigates the often-underhanded politics of Gotham's criminal justice system, Gordon will confront imposing gang boss Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith, The Matrix films, “HawthoRNe,” Collateral), and many of the characters who will become some of fiction's most renowned, enduring villains, including a teenaged Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman (acting newcomer Camren Bicondova) and Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor, “The Walking Dead,” Another Earth).

Although the crime drama will follow Gordon's turbulent and singular rise through the Gotham City police department, led by Police Captain Sarah Essen (Zabryna Guevara, “Burn Notice”), it also will focus on the unlikely friendship Gordon forms with the young heir to the Wayne fortune, who is being raised by his unflappable butler, Alfred (Sean Pertwee, "Camelot," “Elementary”). It is a friendship that will last them all of their lives, playing a crucial role in helping the young boy eventually become the crusader he's destined to be.

Hulkbuster/Hulk will be an epic battle

The more i see of GOTG, the more i like...going to be an awesome ride

Would have preferred the green outfit for Quicksilver...but i can live with the blue...just hoping that he and Scarlet are represented properly...her outfit indicates "tween" to me...seriously hope not

Ant-Man has established a pretty solid cast so far...interested to see how it turns out

Oh and should add...the Avenger's Quicksilver looks about a million times better than the X-Mens version...Evan Peter's "costume" is off the scale ridiculous
