Mr J is in the house !!
the year long wait is finally over...and damn, was it worth it !
this statue is incredible...the detail is off the scale...my shitty camera can't possibly do this piece justice so i'll include a few from Sideshow

Insider....we have talked privately about this piece and i 've said that i didn't care for the Ex head...but after seeing it up close i have to change my opinion...it looks amazing...so much so, that i don't know which way to display him

Sideshow hit a grand-slam with this one

pull list and 10 comics to buy for Aug 15th...

iFanboy

Comic Vine

ever get tired of character reboots ?...characters that magically come back from the dead ?...characters that ALWAYS manage to escape what would seem like ridiculous odds ?
well, i've been reading the new Deadpool series called Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe...and i have to admit i'm getting a lot of perverse pleasure from reading it
this "what if" series has Wade going around killing all the Marvel characters is very intriguing ways...and it's a hell of a lot of fun to watch

highly recommend reading it...3rd issue comes out tomorrow so it's not too late to jump aboard

another Great Page...Superman #199

Quote:
Superman and the Flash had been teammates in the Justice League of America for seven years by the time 1967 rolled around. Together, they had defeated world conquerors, intergalactic aliens, and extra-dimensional versions of themselves. Still, the question of who was faster between the two was never answered. Fans had been asking it for years and, in Superman #199, it was officially addressed.

When the United Nations approached Superman and the Flash with the idea of a race around the world, the pair agreed. Money raised by the event would go to needy countries and the heroes were happy to help. Though the pair would end this event in a tie and they would have a half dozen rematches in the future, this first race was something special. It was something no one had seen before.

The penciler of this issue was Curt Swan, the legendary Superman artist. His version of Superman is still how many fans view the Man of Steel. The writer of this story was a 16 year-old Jim Shooter, already an employee of two years at DC Comics. It was a fun pairing that lead to this first memorable race.

i've already mentioned the Robot Chicken/DC special a few posts above...now it looks like DC will be doing a variant cover for Aquaman #12...i switched to strictly digital a number of months ago but i will be picking this up next week...it's just too epic to pass up
and for any causal collectors out there...this variant cover could be worth a few bucks somewhere down the road (so you might want to grab this)

All Hail The King: Jack Kirby

Quote:
Jack Kirby (1917-1994) is arguably the most important figure in American comic book history. He defined style and language for a comic book industry still very much standing on his shoulders. In collaboration with Joe Simon and Stan Lee, Jack was imagination unbridled, and his work stands today as the gold standard by which other comic book art is measured.

Needless to say, I’m a fan. Today, in honor of what would be his 95th birthday, I urge comic book fans to take a moment to think about an appreciate the King and his contribution to the art form and medium we love so dearly.

Thank you Jack. You’re dearly missed.

Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. Comes to ABC

Quote:
It was revealed earlier this month that Joss Whedon had signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios to, among other things, help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. Today, Deadline has revealed that, now greenlit by ABC, the series will be titled "S.H.I.E.L.D." and will focus on the top secret defense organization featured throughout the Marvel cinematic universe.

Whedon will write the pilot alongside his brother, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen (who previously worked with Whedon on "Dollhouse" and "Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"). All three will also join Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb as executive producers. The site notes that Whedon may also direct the pilot, but that nothing is confirmed at this time.

It remains to be seen which, if any, actors and/or characters from the Marvel Studios films are planned to appear on the show, though it's very likely that "S.H.I.E.L.D" will have direct ties to future Marvel Studios cinematic entries, including the Whedon scripted and directed Marvel's The Avengers 2, set for release on May 1, 2015.

The good news about an animated film of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns is that there is an animated feature of the ground breaking graphic novel forthcoming. The bad news is that it's being split up into two parts. But even more good news is that the second part of the film will be the one that heavily features the Joker and we've got the first look at the character for you from TV Guide, who have also revealed that "LOST' veteran Michael Emerson will be playing the character in the second part.
