check out this new pic of him in the movie

thank god...
i hate when they cast skinny dudes in muscular superhero roles.

there was nothing worse than seeing that bean poll from 'that 70's show' as Venom/brock...
um, have you seen what Venom looks like in the comics? he is not 120 pounds.

i dont like when the movies are different than whats on paper.
i love Sam Jackson, but isnt Nick Fury a white guy (with awesome hair btw)?
on a side note, how much can i get for S.H.I.E.L.D #1 ? i found it the other day when i was cleaning out my old closet.

"Ultimate" Nick Fury is actually based on Sam Jackson

^that could possibly be THE WORST casting decision in the last 20 years of movie making:facepalm:

Nick Fury was originally white but when Marvel rebooted with a series called the Ultimates they went with the Fury you see in the movies now...in fact, the character was specifically designed around Jackson

can you describe the cover of the comic (S.H.I.E.L.D #1)...there are a few different #1s out there...i might be able to help you out though

edit...^ok, i see you got it ^

that's a little less than what the Batman #1 recently sold for .....

1939 Batman comic sells for more than $1M - Books - booknews - TODAYshow.com

DALLAS — Heritage Auction Galleries said a 1939 comic book in which Batman makes his debut has sold at auction in Dallas for more than $1 million — setting a record for the amount paid for a comic.
The rare copy of Detective Comics No. 27 from 1939 went for $1,075,500 Thursday. A Heritage official said it was sold on behalf of an anonymous consignor and the buyer wished to remain unnamed as well.
"The buyer wanted to be extremely anonymous, but I can say he's a very serious comic book collector and has been since childhood," said Greg Rohan, president of Heritage Auction Galleries.
Seven people from at least three different countries participated in the auction over the Internet. From the outset it was clear that the stakes would be high; in pre-bidding before the auction officially began, the price of the pristine comic had climbed to $500,000.
The auction itself lasted a total of eight minutes — an eternity in the auction world, Rohan said.
"Often you sell things in a minute or two," he explained. "We had a live sale room, and I was actually in the live sale room in Dallas. It was very exciting. There were gasps — huuhhhhh! — every time it hit another big plateau."
Barry Sandoval, director of operations for Heritage's comics division, said he and his colleagues were "flabbergasted" by the final price. But the factors that pushed the price to such dizzying heights were the comic's rarity and its quality. On a scale of 1 to 10, it was graded an 8, or "very fine."

that's right......$1,075,500

Barely a month after Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27 sold for record prices, the first appearance of Superman has broken another barrier.

The Associated Press reports that a copy of the 1938 comic went for $1.5 million this morning on the auction website ComicConnect, jumping past the $1.075-million record price paid on Feb. 25 for a copy of Detective Comics #27. That issue broke a record $1 million paid just three days earlier for another copy of Action Comics #1.

just finished the first issue of Y the last man, took about 30 mins to read and it was pretty sick...but now I have to wait for the library to get issue #2 lol

And I just watched an episode of the Boondocks, where they make fun of Tyler Perry..I laughed my ass off for most of it so I searched up Aaron McGruder, creator of Boondocks, and found some of his comic strips and books put together by him and I put a hold on his book: All the rage, the boondocks past and present which is a bunch of his old comic strips, full of commentaries and banned comic strips...seems pretty sick.

Today is a great day for me...2 of my loves, Joss Whedon and The AVENGERS are officially married

Quote:
Picking up various bits of info at the moment, but the confirmation comes courtesy of Whedonesque.

When asked about the film, Whedon said..

"It’s not an official thing, I think because Marvel couldn’t afford a press release, Can I make that an official thing? I am directing THE AVENGERS!" -

i'm incredibly jacked about this movie...have been an Avengers fan since i was a kid...to see it finally come to the screen will be a very special day for me...i'm hoping to see them do a storyline that is similar to the animated Ultimate Avengers back in 2006 ?...if they manage to come close to it then i'll be a VERY happy camper

i forgot to mention that there is a new S.H.I.E.L.D series by Marvel that was just released in April...it's a bi-monthly series that is written by Jonathan Hickman and penciled by Dustin Weaver...only 2 editions so far so it wouldn't take much to catch-up
imho Hickman might be the best writer in comics today...and Weaver's artwork is breathtaking to say the least

here's a review from IGN...

S.H.I.E.L.D #1 review

i can't recommend this enough

and the variant cover

Marvel has finally unveiled Thor's Helm...along with Loki's and what i'm assuming is Odin's as well

also some other news to pass along...rumours have been flying for months about the possibility of Hawkeye being in the Avengers film...well Joss Whedon himself has now confirmed that Jeremy Renner will play the part of Clint Barton

ya, i stumbled upon that station yesterday and could only handle about 15 mins of it...just a lot of MTV Tween style bullshit

i've been waiting for some Batman news as well but very little (if any) is being reported...mostly Green Lantern from DC...i'm not sure if there is even a Batman panel at the Comic-con this year

there have been a couple of Batman comic related stories though...here are the links

Batman's New Detective

The Dark Knight Returns

The Corporate Batman

and the Avengers cast "assembled" for the first time (including the new Bruce Banner)...i'm hoping that Henry "Hank" Pym and Janet Van Dyne will eventually be added to the line-up as well
