great read
Mignola's pencils are excellent...but Russel's inks and Hornung's colors are what put it over the top for me...both of them give the book a wonderful "Victorian" feel

enjoy

interesting news about Thor 2...Patty Jenkins dropped out as director and i'm really liking the names for replacing her...

Quote:
Two TV veterans are reportedly on Marvel's shortlist to replace Patty Jenkins in the director's chair of Thor 2.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO staples Alan Taylor and Daniel Minahan are being eyed to replace Patty Jenkins at the helm of the Thor sequel.

Both Taylor and Minahan have directed episodes of HBO's gritty fantasy series Game of Thrones, so that's certainly a good omen for Thor 2. Taylor's other credits include episodes of Mad Men, The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, while Minahan's credits include True Blood and Deadwood.

Furthermore, THR says new screenwriters are being considered to rewrite the project. They include John Collee (Master and Commander: Far Side of the World), Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan) and Oscar winner Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction).

just finished reading Uncanny X-Force #18...this issue finishes the Dark Angel saga and i have to say the finale didn't disappoint...this is the way comics SHOULD be written...extremely high quality in writing and art...can't wait to see where #19 goes from here (sneek preview of cover has Nightcrawler on it )
if you're looking for something to read, Uncanny X-Force would be at the top of my suggestion list

another great moment in comics...Detective Comics #400

ok, this is just weird

sad to hear that one of the greats passed on today
RIP Joe

Link

Quote:
If there was anyone from the golden age of comics who I wanted to meet, it was Joe Simon. I was never going to get a chance to meet Jack Kirby, or Will Eisner, and Joe belongs up there in the pantheon with both of them. Today, I found out that isnít going to happen, and I am very saddened.

Joe has passed away today, and itís a massive loss for comics. Joe Simon was Jack Kirbyís partner for twenty years before Kirby teamed up with Stan Lee at Marvel. Together they created Captain America, the entire concept of romance comics, hits like Boy Commandos, Manhunter, and on and on. Comics today would be truly different had Joe Simon not been part of them. Later, in the 1960′s Joe sued for creative control of his work, leading an early charge for creators rights. He was as hardworking and smart as anyone in comics has ever been. Luckily he left behind not only his legacy, but a couple of books detailing his life, including the Comic Book Makers, and the more recent Joe Simon: My Life in Comics, which I read recently.

Since becoming deeply involved in comics, Iíve heard of the passing of many creators, but this is the first time in a while that Iíve been so emotionally struck. Having read about his life, and learned to appreciate his work, well beyond his part in creating Captain America, I canít get rid of this lump in my throat and the tear in my eye. Iím OK with that though, because Joe Simon deserves that and more.

Weíve truly lost a legend today. Thank you, Joe.
