4 new tv spots for the First Avenger film...wanted to post this one because it has part of the Arctic scene in it...wasn't sure if this was going to be part of the movie or just an after credits teaser...VERY pleased to see it's part of the movie

just going to post the link...

ran over to a comic store in Whitby this afternoon because i had forgotten to order the FF#5 issue last week (my regular LCS had ran out)
when i was in the store i spotted 2 statues that are VERY hard to find in stores these days
talked the owner into a really good price for both

Sideshow Classic Iron Man...total of 31" high..going to get the girlfriend to find (and sew) a Canadian flag to put on the pole

Sideshow Abomination...this guy is MASSIVE...love the fact that he's ready to throw a fire hydrant

both of these statues are fairly old so i couldn't find anything decent on youtube...but if you are interested, i've supplied the link from sideshow for each one
just drag your mouse over the picture and click on the backstage pass to see a good video

Classic Iron Man

Abomination

*Spoliers*

Just read the The Dark Knight Returns, and I've gotta admit that I thought Bats was going to die near the end. What really disheartened me was that Alfred died.

Returns is a great story
don't know if you've read any other Batman novels...but if you haven't then i would recommend these as must reads

Year One
Long Halloween
Dark Victory
Hush
The Killing Joke
The Man Who Laughs

any particular character ?...or do you just want a top 5 overall ?

Watchmen (obviously )
All Star Superman 1 and 2
Kingdom Come
Identity Crisis
Crisis on Infinite Earths
Final Crisis
Hellblazer: Original Sins
Swamp Thing (Alan Moore's run)
and all the Batmans above

Daredevil (Yellow)
Marvels
Infinity Gauntlet
Marvel 1602
Avengers: Kree/Skrull War
The Sentry
Annihilation 1,2 and 3.....Annihilation: Conquest 1 and 2

that list should be a pretty good start
i can go a little more obscure if you wish

The only one I've read from those is Dark Victory. I'm reading The Dark Knight Strikes Again at the moment, since Returns is still fresh in my head.

one of the very few Batman stories i haven't read (just never gotten around to it)...let me know what you think when you're done
if you recommend, i'll go out and get it

edit - there are MANY more options than the ones i suggested above...if you're interested in some really good (lesser known) stories i'll add them to the list

I wasn't too impressed with Strikes Again for reasons I can't mention so as not to spoil it. I wouldn't recommend buying it, but it is worth a read.

Marvel has released a storyline about the origin of Red Skull called Incarnate (5 part series)...read the 1st issue yesterday and gotta say this is an outstanding comic...the story is written by Greg Pak (who also wrote the incredible X-Men: Magneto Testament)
if anyone is interested in doing a bit of background work before the movie (or just enjoy a really well written comic) then i highly recommend picking this first issue up

this is the cover for Testament...it's available in both HC and TPB
this book is excellent

Frank Castle (The Punisher) is back with his own series beginning Aug 3rd...now i'm the first to admit that i've never been a huge Punisher fan but i'll be picking up this series after reading 2 stories recently with Frank in it

The List

written during the Dark Reign era where Norman Osborn rises to power...he essentially writes a hit list and has different associates carry thru with the killings...Daken (Wolverine's son) is sent to eliminate the Punisher

Punisher Max: In The Beginning

i've only read the 1st TPB in this series (In The Beginning) but if the 1st is any indication as to what the rest are like then i plan on picking up all 14 of them...MAX is an imprint of Marvel Comics for adult audiences, which means they can get away with a lot of shit "normal" comics can't...and trust me, they take it to the limit
this is the way Punisher SHOULD be written

as i said above, the new series starts Aug 3rd...here's a link to the article

The Punisher

rough day today (funeral)...but when i finally arrived home i had some good news awaiting me...My Sideshow Gambit had arrived...managed to get an excellent deal from a guy out in San Fran
Gambit (Exclusive) is considered a "grail "piece among many collectors...he's very hard to get these days
i'm incredibly happy to be able to add him to my collection

imho, one of the best statues Sideshow has ever made...stands a whopping 20" high and is 18" wide and deep

thanks bud
i've seen countless pics and vids of this statue online, but i was still amazed when i opened him up...a truly stunning statue up close

Sideshow announced today that they have purchased the DC license as well...fuck me, my wallet's going to take a beating

1/4 scale Premium Format and Comiquette Batmans, Supermans, Jokers, Green Lanterns etc etc etc are on the way
it's a great time to start collecting

i've had to add shelving on one side of my "office" now because i quickly ran out of room for my stuff...figure i have enough space for about 11 more then i'll be forced to go to the other side

I know I said my favs were Thing and HUlk, but after viewing the whole collection you got, i spotted a massive Silver Surfer. Not my favorite comic heroe, but defintly one of the coolest looking, and that statue you have is amazing.
