just got back from post office...a package that i have been waiting for for some time finally arrived today
an "Avengers Reborn" Captain America Fine Art Statue by Kotobukiya...i purchased the Thor figure a few weeks ago and have pre-ordered the Iron Man which comes out Nov 24th...these statues are approx 12-13 " tall (1:6 scale)...are made of high-quality cold cast porcelain and sculpted by master artist Junnosuke Abe...the paint detail is astounding !
(Capt America comes with optional heads)

here's the 2 statues on my desk...and below are more detailed pics of each figure

thanks Insider...being a geek can be expensive these days...and some would say i've gone a little overboard with my "office"
check out my profile to see what i mean (office album)

Damn, that's an expensive hobby. I have a friend that collects sculptures too and some of them look amazing. He told me about a sculptor named Bobby C? www.bobbycsculptures.com

I'm quite amazed at some of the stuff he does... (like below)

holy shit...that is outstanding work ^
i've never heard of the guy...it is so good i thought it was a joke until i looked thru the galleries
the Christopher Reeve is perfection as well
i would love to know what one of those would cost...WAY out of my price range !
i love the fact he included the pencil with the life size Ledger

is the Vertigo series any good, might read TRANSMETROPOLITAN VOL. 1: BACK ON THE STREET

Quote:

The acclaimed Vertigo series from writer Warren Ellis (PLANETARY and THE AUTHORITY) and artist Darick Robertson, TRANSMETROPOLITAN combines black humor, life-threatening situations, and moral ambiguity to look into the gonzo mind of an outlaw journalist and the world he seeks to destroy.

After years of self-imposed exile from a civilizationrife with degradation and indecency, cynical journalist Spider Jerusalem is forced to return to a job he hates and a city he loathes. Working as an investigative reporter for the newspaper The Word, Spider attacks the injustices of his surreal 23rd Century surroundings. Spider ventures into the dangerous Angels 8 district, home of the Transients —humans who have decided to become aliens through cosmetic surgery. But Spider's interview with the Transients' leader gets him a scoop he didn't bargain for.

The guy is insane. My friend told me that his wife even inserts each strand of hair by hand. Looks like you can contact him and make special requests so he can sculpt something for you, but you're right, the price must be ridiculous.

ya, i've been waiting for this one...looks good
only thing i'm disappointed in is the fact that Bruce Greenwood is doing the voice of Batman (instead of Kevin Conroy)
Greenwood sounds a little too much like Rorschach at times

still, it's a great story and i'm looking forward to watching it

the sound and picture quality on that BluRay is outstanding !...i'd have rate the quality right up there with the Dark Knight

Yeah I was a little let down by that voice too, I wanted a more maniacal voice/laugh. But it didn't really hurt the movie so I'm ok with it.
