the last villain i wanted to see in the new Superman movie was Zod...until i saw this headline

Mortensen as Superman's New Zod?

Quote:
Lord of the Rings veteran Viggo Mortensen is reportedly under consideration to play the nefarious General Zod in the Superman reboot. (This despite the fact that director Zack Snyder recently denied that Zod was in the movie.)
Calling him a "person of interest" (cripes, he didn't kill someone!), The Hollywood Reporter says "Mortensen, who is still in negotiations for Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman, is said to be at the top of the list to play General Zod, the evil and super-powered scientist who was portrayed by Terence Stamp in 1980's Superman II. If Mortensen's Snow White deal doesn't close, that would potentially free him up to make Superman. Or Universal and Warner Bros. could work out his schedule and enable him to do both."
The trade adds that while no talks have taken place yet with Mortensen, he is, like Kevin Costner as Pa Kent, Warners' top choice for the role.
Snyder is also said to be meeting with actresses for the film's three key female roles. (We assume the roles to be those of Lois Lane, Ursa and Ma Kent.)
another interesting storyline for this movie is this one...not a huge fan of Costner but i have to admit he would make a great Jonathan

Kevin Costner May Join Superman

Quote:
Oscar-winning actor-filmmaker Kevin Costner is reportedly being courted for a role in the next Superman film.
Deadline claims "there is heightened interest in Kevin Costner for a key role in the Superman reboot that is being directed by Zack Snyder for Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures."
The site doesn't know which role Costner might be up for, so let's engage in some pure fanboy speculation. Could the Dances With Wolves and JFK star play Pa Kent? Perhaps Jor-El? Daily Planet editor Perry White? Or maybe a villain? The President of the United States?

UPDATED: Latino Review says it's confirmed that Costner will play Superman's adopted dad, Jonathan Kent, in the reboot.

Green Lantern movie news has been pretty sparse to say the least but this month there is a new storyline called War of The Green Lanterns...if anyone was looking for a "jumping on" spot, this would be it
the storyline will include books from Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps and Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors
the main story arc will be with Green Lantern...it begins with a prologue in Green Lantern #63 (on Sale March 2nd) and then continues with issue #64 (March 16th)

teaser image from artist Clayton Crain (i think)

Diane Lane has been cast as Martha Kent for the new Superman movie...great choice !
Lane and Costner (if he is indeed chosen) would be a perfect match imo

Quote:
Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Diane Lane has been cast as Martha Kent in the Zack Snyder-directed Superman movie coming December of 2012. The official press release follows:

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Oscar®-nominated actress Diane Lane will play Martha Kent, the only mother Clark Kent has ever known, in the new Superman movie to be directed by Zack Snyder.
Snyder stated, "This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination."
Lane will star with Henry Cavill, who was recently announced as the new Clark Kent/Superman.
Lane earned an Academy Award® nomination for her performance in the 2002 drama "Unfaithful." She most recently starred in the family hit "Secretariat." She next stars in the HBO feature "Cinema Verite," opposite Tim Robbins and James Gandolfini. Lane's long list of film credits also includes "Nights in Rodanthe," "Hollywoodland," "Must Love Dogs," "Under the Tuscan Sun," "Perfect Storm," "My Dog Skip," "Chaplin," "The Cotton Club" and "A Little Romance," to name only a portion.
Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are the producers of the film. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.
Slated for release in December 2012, the new Superman movie will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

Aparently the plot for batman rises has been leaked......so here it is if you want to see it..

Quote:
There is a rumor going around that "The Dark Knight Rises" will be based on "Prey," a storyline that appeared in "Legends of The Dark Knight" comic book issues #11-15. If you look at the story, all the previous rumors fall nicely into place.

"Prey" features prominent Gotham psychiatrist Dr. Hugo Strange, who uses his influence on the mayor to form a task force to capture the vigilante Batman, the object of Strange's obsession. Heading this task force is the newly promoted Commissioner Gordon, who must weigh his responsibilities to Gotham against his loyalties to Batman. Meanwhile, Dr. Strange deduces Batman's true identity and plays mind games with him, finally attempting to kill the Dark Knight in order to become him.

At the end of "The Dark Knight," Lt. Gordon (Gary Oldman) becomes Police Commissioner, while Batman is considered a criminal. This sets up "Prey" perfectly. In addition, it was previously rumored that Tom Hardy will be playing Hugo Strange. That also fits. And it was said (and hinted in "The Dark Knight") that Catwoman will show up. That fits as well, since Catwoman is part of "Prey."

Finally, Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer's Apprentice) has been campaigning to play Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra's al Ghul, a character from "Batman Begins." Since this is the last installment (according to Christian Bale), having Talia al Ghul would tie up the trilogy nicely.

The story has no room for The Joker or The Riddler, both characters that Nolan said he will not use in "The Dark Knight Rises."

buyer's guide for March 9th...

Buyer's Guide

read an interesting article the other day about the Inhumans...seems there might be a movie made...have always loved these characters and if done right, this film could rock

Quote:
There is yet another Marvel comic said to be in development as a feature film.
Badass Digest noticed a posting at the industry tracking board It's On the Grid that claims Marvel is developing a feature film based on their cosmic comic book The Inhumans.
It's On the Grid says the project is currently out to screenwriters, and describes it as being about "aliens who were put on Earth as sleeper cell aliens to eventually call back their race to take over the planet. Ultimately, the group of aliens fully assimilates and don't want to cause war." No release date was mentioned for the project.
in case anyone wants to learn more about these characters i've provided this link...

someone else can correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't believe Rorschach ever mentions his journal to anyone else...so he probably didn't know it existed

regarding the 2nd part...i'll just rip this from Wiki...it's much faster

Quote:
Watchmen features a story within a story in the form of Tales of the Black Freighter, a fictional comic book from which scenes appear in issues three, five, eight, ten and eleven. The fictional comic's story, "Marooned", is read by a youth in New York City.[23] Moore and Gibbons conceived a pirate comic because they reasoned that since the characters of Watchmen experience superheroes in real life, "they probably wouldn't be at all interested in superhero comics."[31] Gibbons suggested a pirate theme, and Moore agreed in part because he is "a big Bertolt Brecht fan": the Black Freighter alludes to the song "Seeräuberjenny" ("Pirate Jenny") from Brecht's Threepenny Opera.[3] Moore theorized that since superheroes existed, and existed as "objects of fear, loathing, and scorn, the main superheroes quickly fell out of popularity in comic books, as we suggest. Mainly, genres like horror, science fiction, and piracy, particularly piracy, became prominent--with EC riding the crest of the wave."[12] Moore felt that "the imagery of the whole pirate genre is so rich and dark that it provided a perfect counterpoint to the contemporary world of Watchmen".[12] The writer expanded upon the premise so that its presentation in the story would add subtext and allegory.[32] The supplemental article detailing the fictional history of Tales of the Black Freighter at the end of issue five credits real-life artist Joe Orlando as a major contributor to the series. Moore chose Orlando because he felt that if pirate stories were popular in the Watchmen universe that DC editor Julius Schwartz might have tried to lure the artist over to the company to draw a pirate comic book. Orlando contributed a drawing designed as if it were a page from the fake title to the supplemental piece.[12]

In "Marooned", a young mariner (called "The Sea Captain") journeys to warn his home town of the coming of the Black Freighter, after he survives the destruction of his own ship. He uses the bodies of his dead shipmates as a make-shift raft. When he finally returns home, believing it to be already under the occupation of the Black Freighter's crew, he kills an innocent couple and then attacks his own wife in their darkened home, mistaking her for a pirate. After realizing what he has done, he returns to the sea shore, where he finds that the Black Freighter has not come to claim the town; it has come to claim him. He swims out to sea and climbs aboard the ship. According to Richard Reynold, the mariner is "forced by the urgency of his mission to shed one inhibition after another." Just like Adrian Veidt, he "hopes to stave off disaster by using the dead bodies of his former comrades as a means of reaching his goal".[33] Moore stated that the story of The Black Freighter ends up specifically describing "the story of Adrian Veidt" and that it can also be used as a counterpoint to other parts of the story, such as Rorschach's capture and Dr. Manhattan's self-exile on Mars.
and in case you are interested ...this was included on the Bluray
excellent !!!
Moore's work is brilliant on so many levels
