Hey guys.
A couple days ago i had some random idea that i might give reading comic books a try. I have never really read any form of comic book before. Ive glanced at them and read a few pages, but never cover to cover let alone an entire series. I saw this thread and thought you guys definetly know where to start. Any recomendation of series that are relitively easy to find, preferably new so i dont have to go back to understand the full story (i dont want the series to be releasing its 1000000th issue, where i would have to read the ones leading up to it). And if anyone know of good stores in toronto where i can get these things that would be awsome, i would download them, but i see something cool in collecting them.

Thank you in advance

what site do you order from online Mr M?
most local comic stores will order for you in advance but you will more than likely pay full price...started late with most of these so i had to go thru Evilbay (but i managed to find some good deals)...got my Dr Doom at the ComicCon in Toronto a few months back
i find the best way to shop is to find the retail price first from the company you are buying from...be it Sideshow Collectibles, Bowen, Kotobukiya etc etc...then go to one of these 3 sites and compare the prices...you will more than likely get them about 25-30% cheaper (but you'll have to pay shipping)

the first site is the best imho....

Action Figure Xpress

BigBadToyStore

CornerStoreComics

an example....i'm waiting for my next statue to arrive (Koto Deadpool)...Xpress is selling it for $139....$175 from Koto

the new Colossus statue (released sometime next spring is being listed at $249 from Koto...Xpress is selling it for $199 (plus you can pre-order)

look around and compare...you can always find a fairly good deal

you'd have to narrow it down a bit for me first my friend...give me an idea as to what characters you are interested in...then i can probably give you a few suggestions
as far as good comic book stores in Toronto...i'll assume you are talking about the downtown area to begin with...here are the 2 best i've found in my travels...both have amazing selections of old and new comics, graphic novels. action figures, statues etc etc etc...and both have excellent, knowledgeable and helpful staffs

Silver Snail Comics...367 Queen St W
One Million Comix...531 Yonge St

Marvel has made a major announcement this morning about their next "event" storyline...it begins in April and is called Fear Itself
Marvel execs are saying this is "as ambitious as Civil War.'"

Fear Itself

And sorry for making my post to narrow, i did that cause i honestly have no clue what im talknig about, the most i know of any of these hero's is what i get from video games and TV shows. I found a store a bit closer to where i live, so ill probably go there and bother the guy behind the counter to help me find something.

i usually try to stay away from rumours, but i found this one about the Avengers film rather intriguing and i thought i'd pass it along

The Avengers To Battle The Skrulls And Kree ?

So today, i went into a store, walked down this shaky staircase and ended up in what they called the comic room. There was no one there, and i had no clue what i was doing, but i ended picking this up.

So far ive really liked it, ready about 1/8 into it. Planning on getting the rest in the series.
