With the lights off, I'm going to try ("try" being the operative word) and get the "Mrs." in the mood with a little vino (ala Baby Duck
) and some Marvin Gay ... Sexual Healing. ![]() |

Heh. We actually enjoyed it. Lights off, candles on, dinner, board games ... boring perhaps, but after mad mad weeks at work, neither of us wanted to go out or do anything more.

what's the big problem with a symboic gesture? why is something a waste just because it is not 100% perfect in all aspects? street lights are an issue of public safety. you really think they should turn them off to prove an environmental point and at the same time increase the liklihood of accidents or assaults or worse?
earth hour is about raising public awareness of energy use, not about actually saving all the possible energy we can save during that hour. participation, as much as you can, is about signalling that you wish to be a part of that culture of change. i promise you that when i turn my lights off, i won't be turning off my freezer or my fridge. that doesn't mean i don't see the value of a symbolic gesture about energy conservation. |
