Default District 9

Anyone going to watch this? I've been pumped about this for the last few months since i saw the trailer. So far its gotten great reviews!

Quote:
Thirty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa's District 9 as the world's nations argued over what to do with them. Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens' welfare - they will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens' awesome weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA. The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable - he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.

I watched the trailer before a few movies and thought it seems cool, then I went down to the US and they had so many cool signs for the movies, "Time Square is for humans only, Aliens are prohibited. 10,000 fine" and I saw so many different ones lol, on rottentomatoes it's at 98% right now I think so I gotta watch it for sure tomorrow.

2012 looks like a CGI porno flick, all CGI action no decent storyline

This movie is a very good anology of how we treat each other. Really want to see it. They say it's the best sci-fi movie of the summer.

Default Director Hints at 'District 9' Sequel

Quote:
Before the film was even in theaters, producer Peter Jackson was reluctant to answer questions about a District 9 sequel. Now, with the film a global phenomenon and a box office success, he may have no other choice.

In just its first weekend, District 9 topped the box office with $37 million, well over what it cost to make. Reviews of the film have been stellar, and fans have praised it for its unique story and incredible special effects.

And now, the film's director, Neill Blomkamp, is talking about how fun it would be to do it again.

"When I started thinking about it, I thought I'd totally like to go back to the creative universe of District 9 for sure," he said. "Hopefully there's a place for that sometime in the future."

Sharlto Copley, the film's lead actor, even said there's almost enough footage left over to make a sequel right away.

"The behind-the-scenes DVD is gonna be crazy because we shot an enormous amount of footage," he said. "There were a lot of exciting avenues to want to go down and you really [have to fit it all] into a small block of time."

So for now, this first film is going to have to suffice. But rest assured, if there's any good material to plumb from the District 9 storyline, Peter Jackson will take care of it.

"I believe movies should come from the heart," he said, "and if there's any sequel or continuation of District 9, it should only be because there's a good idea involved, not because it's a money-making venture."

Good find Apollo.

as for the quote above, I must agree with 10000% because movies today are just remakes of old shows or unoriginal pieces of drek just to get cash. G.I joe sucked, Alvin and the chimpmunks will suck, 2012 will also suck, as a religious person I find the upcoming movie "Legion" offending and also is going to suck and for transformers?

it sucked.
yea I said it, only good for the chicks and action and that was it.
