Feris Bueller will aways be one of the greates movies ever, even if I've seen it 500 times and can't bare to watch it anymore.

John Sakamoto
Staff Reporter

John Hughes, the director of iconic coming-of-age movies "The Breakfast Club," "Sixteen Candles" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," has died of a heart attack.

He was 59.

He died this morning during a walk in Manhattan, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Hughes hadn't directed a movie since 1991's Curly Sue, according to IMDB.com, but he remained active as a writer, contributing the story to 2008's Drillbit Taylor, under the name Edmond Dantes.

Sad day. Great director.

59 is very young.

I never really like Bueller. Bigger fan of the Breakfast Club though.

I've never seen the breakfast club but ferris bueller's day off is one of the funniest movies i've ever seen, "Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?" :tombstone:

I really liked his late 80's stuff - Planes, Trains & Automobiles and Uncle Buck. And how can you not like The Great Outdoors?

Acie 08-07-2009 08:12 AM

"Those aren't pillows!"

zachus 08-07-2009 01:10 PM

Planes, Trains and Automobiles was better than Ferris Bueller.

There, I said it.

Um...not when you're 10 years old, it's not!

It's pretty fuckin' righteous.

Uncle Buck is up there too.

I'm Buck Melanoma. Moley Russell's wart. Not her wart. Not her wart! I'm... I'm the wart. She's my tumor. My... my growth. My... uh, my pimple. I'm Uncle Wart. Just old Buck "Wart" Russell. That's what they call me, or Melanoma Head. They'll call me that. "Melanoma Head's coming." I'm s... uncle! Maisy Russell's uncle!

Buck: Who said anything about that? I thought you might like to join us for some ice cream. Maybe your Bug here can join us. We can talk about burying the hatchet. You know what a hatchet is, don't you, Bug?
Bug: It's an ax?
Buck: Sort of, yeah, yeah. I got one in my car if you'd like to see it.
Bug: I'll pass.
Buck: Fair enough. I like to carry it, you never know when your going to need it. A situation may come up say for example, someone has been drinking, and about to drive a loved one home, then I'd like to know I have it. Not to kill, no. Just to maim. Take a little off the shoulder. Swish! The elbow. Slash! Shave a little meat off the old kneecap. Fowap! Ooooo! You got both kneecaps? I like to keep mine razor sharp. Sharp enough you can shave with it. Why I've been known to circumcise a gnat. You're not a gnat are you, Bug? Wait a minute, bug, gnat. Is there a little similarity? Whoa, I think there is! Ha ha ha. You understand what I'm talking about? I don't think you do. I'll be right back. Heh heh heh heh.

Plains, trains and automoviles was one of my favourite movies growing up. One of those flicks that you watch and a lot of memories come to mind. Aladin was another one. :giggle:

Breakfast Club is a great movie. Rumours say they may do a BC2. Please leave a classic alone.
