I'm a movie junkie, and when hear things like best performance, you're discounting great performances from Jimmy Stewart, Daniel Day Lewis, Kenneth Brannagh, Marlon Brando, hell even Robert DeNeiro and Al Pacino (pre-screaming days). I will say though that the performance was fantastic and the best Joker on screen ever. But best acting performance ever? No.

Agreed.

Would you say it's the best so far this year though?

I don't see enough movies to really judge that well, but I've heard a number of people say that. I'm interested to see how film die hards rate that against the other stuff that's come out so far this year.

Without a doubt Swag, most of the really great performances are released in the last couple months of the year so they can try and win Oscars, in the first half you can usually count the above average performances/movies on one hand. Off the top of my head I can list Naomi Watts in Funny Games, Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes in In Bruges, then Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man and Ledger, Eckhart (who's work is being really underrated... he's fantastic), Bale, and Oldman in TDK. My favorite movie this year along with probably The Dark Knight is still Cloverfield, though it doesn't have any acting standouts. Ledger's work is absolutely one of the best of the last couple years though.

Well in the case of North Americans, most of the good foreign films that may have been released earlier on internationally, such as 4 Months, 3 weeks, 2 days or Persepolis last year, you have to wait till the end of the year for them to be released here and to watch anyways, it takes a while for them to build enough buzz to get released. Cannes is still a pretty big traditional festival and that's early on in the year, though the highest regarded are Venice and Toronto because they release a lot of the films trying for Oscar recognition (which foreign films do too).

It was very good but its not in my top 5 of best movies ever. All the hype sorta made me a little disappointed with it. 8.6/10

Whos gonna be the villain in the next one btw?

I've read a few things. It seems that he's leaning moreso towards using an original villain. I remember reading that before making the third one, they were going to do the Joker on trial in the third one and that's where Harvey would get his scars. But, Nolan hates the Penguin and isn't too fond of catwoman either.

If I was him, seeing how they're going with the psychological torture of Bruce Wayne, or well testing of him, I'd go with Black Mask as the villain. It would be the perfect ending of the series.

Two face will not be the next villain and Bane just doesn't seem to fit into Nolan's world that he's created imo.

See my post above and read some excerpts from the director and the lead writer. Two-Face was supposed to be in the third movie during a Joker trial; that's where Dent would receive his scarring however those plans changed.

They refuse to do the Penguin because they don't see him as a real villain. All signs point to Ras al-Gul's daughter being in this one (the key villain in the first one) and seeking revenge. My personal preference would be Black Mask, who as a boy grew up with Bruce Wayne, lost his parents and took the opposite side that Bruce did. It would be the perfect compliment against Batman because if you notice all of the villains to date have been mirror images of Bruce (see: Ras al Gul, Harvey Dent and the Joker) as not much seperates them.

Bane, in the comics, was a human monstrosity, a giant if you will, where does the psychological aspect come into play? Where does the moral testing come into play? Bane is just pure and raw power and has only gained notoriety because he "killed" Batman in the comics.
