Default Cuts

So I was at a cottage over the weekend and I cut my foot on something sharp in the water(early afternoon FRI). Since I was a bit out of it and no one had a first aid kit I didnt get out of the water for a while and I wasnt able to cover up the cut until last night. I put some rubbing alcohol on it and then some polysporin and a bandaid overtop. Its uncomfortable walking currently since its on the bottom of my foot, and its itchy as well. What usually happens in a case like this if it isnt treated right away? I took a shower right after but obviously that doesnt help too much.

I'm going to see a doctor soon but just wanted to see what could potentially happen.

Gangrene? Tetanus?

You asked for potentialities. But since you complain of itching more than pain, I would guess that it's already healing. Hope it goes well, and thanks for not providing pictures.

ya man, sounds like good ole fashioned healing.

If you feel a fever, significant;y increased swelling, that sort of thing you could have infection. rubbing alcohol and polysporin though..... I think you're safe man. Good cuts just hurt, and itch when they are healing.

i think you might have flesh eating bacteria.

OK seriously, another thing to look out for is throbbing or pulsing and the area around the cut feeling hot. that's a sign that you may be getting an infection. Polysporin will always do the trick. You should reapply it daily to be safe. Or you could just schedule an elective foot amputation to completely prevent an infection spreading.

And i wouldn't bother going to the doctor unless those signs show up.

polysporin FTW!
try to keep the area dry and change the bandages if they become gross.

if the itching gets really bad, just lop off your leg with a butcher knife.

This was my thought.

My advice...don't let them win. Amputate!

you might've stepped on a broken beer bottle, and a sliver of glass might still be lodged up it there.

Against the doctors advice I decided to go ahead and get my foot amputated as many suggested in this thread. Its extremely difficult driving with my left foot. I'm starting to have second thoughts
