Spoken like a 13-year old boy who just discovered how to lock a door

iPads intrigue me. I know a lot of people that have them, but I've never used one.

I've worked quite extensively on both PC's and Mac's.

The issue is not with the computer, it's with the user.

MAC/ Apple are great marketers, thats certain. They have the whole of their brainwashed hipster nation believing that they are perfect. They don't get viruses, they don't crash. Truth is, they get 90% less viruses (they have about 10% of the marketshare...oops, simple math) They don't crash, (except for the dreaded color wheel of death) and.... they have the Ipad, which is so important that they sold out and had line ups, (that and they used a calculated undershipping ploy that they made sure was covered by the media as supply and demand, then only allowed sale through two outlets in order to ensure lines). The RIM product pre-booked online ans was available everywhere, no lines, just no hassle.

I guess my point is this, I have both, know how to use both. They are both fine. Windows XP is old. Windows 7 is fine. What most people need to do is LEARN how to use a computer. I have has like 3 viruses in 10 years on my PC, one stupid little one on my mac. Its about education guys.

What SJ said.

And Trane. Start msconfig.exe. Stop the virus from starting.

Go into internet options. >connections>lan connections...uncheck the proxy they set up and go and check "get settings automatically" (top box)

Start in sfae mode (google if not sure how). Run malwarebytes.

My mom did the same thing Fancy, not once but twice. I just go to the boot menu and Restore the computer to the previous day and then all is fine and dandy ;D

i'm considering upgrading my computer to a "high end" gaming PC but to be honest i don't have a clue as to where to start
i was hoping i could get some suggestions from the members here first before i go looking around

i need suggestions on Video cards, motherboards, memory, Hard drives etc etc...i have Bose speakers so i don't need a soundcard and i plan on keeping my 26" Viewsonic

any suggestions and links would be greatly appreciated...and please include prices if you can

thanks

Hey.

Since you're asking, you're likely not comfortable building your own PC or supporting completely(no insult meant) it so I would go safe and buy prepackaged. I bought mine from Bestbuy and have had a lot of luck recommending them to friends/family. I game quite extensively on my PC and haven't had issues, other than needing to upgrade the video card once and add an external hard drive in 3 years.

I would go for something like this.

Acer Aspire Desktop Computer featuring Intel Core i7-2600 Processor (AM3920-E4142U) : Performance Computing - Best Buy Canada

It has a very fast intel processor, 4gb ddr3 ram and a terabyte of disk space. It has pci so your existing sound card will work.

Then you need a high end video card... I prefer Geforce by NVidia. I have a 450 right now and it plays all current games I have downloaded at max settings...so that would be a bare minimum. If you have a few extra bucks, get a 460 or higher. Here's where I buy my accessories.. $139, for the 460 right now. $209 for a 560. You can't go wrong with either of these.

Zotac (ZT-40402-10P) GeForce GTX 460 1GB nVidia GeForce GTX 460 Chipset (675Mhz) 1GB GDDR5 3600Mhz Dual Display DVI/HDMI/Display Port PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card | Canada Computers

Good luck!

built one a number of years ago but ya you're right...i'm not comfortable doing it
but i'm kind of viewing this as a personal challenge so i want to build it

my problem is that i've pretty much lost touch on what kind of technology is out there now so i'm looking for direction with the hardware
guess i could just go out and buy the most expensive parts on the market but where's the fun in that
not sure if i should be going Intel, AMD etc etc etc...and what combinations of hardware are recommended

Okay if you're willing to get adventurous. I recommend Canada Computers as your retailer of choice. Good quality, selection, price and know-how.

If it were me, I'd stick to Intel Chipsets. Go with a name brand motherboard like Asus and make sure you have the basics, (i.e. 4 memory slots of ddr3, 6 usb, pci backwards compatible). I stick with my Nvidia GeForce graphics card recommendation. Also, don't chinz out on the powersupply. You want something good like OCZ 600 with separate 6pin connectors for your video card(preferably 2 of them for the newer cards). Make sure you get lots of cooling...OCZ power supplies have a really good design to suck air out of the box which will help but you need another good fan to offset the cpu fan. I've made the mistake of running less power than I should have and it will cause cards to distort images....very frustrating to think you have a faulty card only to find you weren't giving it enough juice. Get yourself at least a terabyte of hard drive space, with a good external usb drive for backup. I recommend western digital.

If you really want specific recommendations on what to buy, I can go into more detail but I wouldn't want to take all your fun away.

Seriously though...with the prices of complete systems these days which come with Windows 7 preinstalled...it's a good way to go. I have built many computers but for my last one I bought a package because it was too good a deal and ready to go.

i've got one on my laptop, its night and day. you'll be in windows in like 30 seconds when you start you computer. Haven't put one in my desktop yet but only because im cheap and dont feel like reinstalling my shit. I'll probably never buy another hdd again after using an ssd but it helps that i watch my po rn streaming and dont need a 1tb-2tb to store it like many do

Leadership camps are not that bad. They are actually fun. But do try to sneak in some electronic device to keep you entertained.

4 days a week in these toastmaster sessions, outdoor hiking preparations and a 3day 2 night trip. Way too time consuming... I only want the Duke of Endinburg award.
