Unhappy Chris Kelly dead at 34

Good lord, i remember these kids. Sad, so young.

Quote:
The report has been confirmed by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office.

According to CBS Atlanta, unnamed sources have said that Kelly was found dead at his home in Atlanta in the US.

The rapper was aged 34.

Investigator Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office said Kelly was officially pronounced dead at around 10.30am this morning local time after he was found unconscious in his home.

Cpl. Kay Lester of the Fulton County police said "it appears it may have been a possible drug overdose." An official cause of death will be announced after an autopsy.

Kelly was known as "Mac Daddy" in Kris Kross, performing alongside Chris Smith, known as "Daddy Mac".

Their most popular hit was "Jump" from their multi-platinum selling debut album, "Totally Krossed Out". The single went to number one in the US, and was a smash hit globally.

The pair were discovered by music producer Jermaine Dupri in 1992, and off the back of their smash hit single toured with the likes of Michael Jackson, and even had a video game.

Follow up releases, including "Tonight's tha Nite" and "Warm It Up", were never able to replicate the initial success of "Jump".

Although I usually sight a "dead rapper" as progress, this is sad. Those kids were top of the game in the early 90s. Too bad they didnt do anything else.

HAHAHA...nah...it;s something, but not racist. Dead white rappers bring a smile to my face as well. Or even Asian ones. Dead rappers of any race are OK with me.

Problem is that once they die, their records sell better. Sigh

HAHAHAH..ok..ok...you have all been a part of a "happening".

I dont want anyone to die young. Really. But I do hate the Rap genre. I use to love Young MC and Tone Loc and even Kriss Kross, but todays rap is too repetitive and gangster and BOOORING and self serving. How many times did Elvis have a song with his name in it? Or Beatles or anyone outside of Rap?

And lets not even get to the use of the n_word. That really burns my butt.

I suppose a comic book movie with a rap sound track would likely kill me.

there are so many ways to think raptorman's statement is wiggity-wack, but i'll write most of it off as exhaustion from having a newborn...

but there are a couple of points that have not gotten any attention yet, so...

today's rap is too gangster - really? are you saying that because you have surveyed it all and come to that conclusion, or are you just making it up? care to compare nwa with, say, kanye? i mean there are so many guys with so many different styles and approaches, there's no way you can make this claim and be right. which brings me to...

today's rap is too boring - really? i mean think about how much more complex rap has become since its early days. i prefer the early 90's stuff, but a lot of that was really simplistic compared to what is being done by some artists now. and the really early stuff - especially a guy like ton loc - i mean, jeez man, that shit was pretty boring in comparison to the flows and 'beats' people are using to day.

sure, there is shitty rap these days, as there has always been. but to make the claims you did in order to back up the idea that you hate the genre is kinda weak.

i'm not certain of your preferred musical style, but i bet i can find plenty of crap within it, like you can with any style.

and, like there was no ego in the persona of elvis or the beatles... sure...

Agreed. It was probably most gangstar in the mid to late 90's with 2Pac, Biggie, Snoop Doog and the whole east coast vs west coast bullshit feud and the Death Row influence.
