Default Cable TV and Internet

Pretty much had it with Rogers. And will always hate Bell for making me broke in the 80's with their monopoly.

What options are out there?

I'm seeing Total Cable Service and others.

Total Cable Service | Stay Connected

Anyone use one of these smaller companies?

I want basic TV and 80 gigs traffic internet.

I've never looked at the smaller companies. I have Rogers and i'm getting fed the fuck up as well. And same as you I hate Bell with a passion. I have been debating lately whether or not to look into alternate options as well.

UPDATE

Rogers didnt like their long term customer leaving so they gave me TV, Unlimited internet and a home phone (which I wont even plug in) for $120 month . Thats 50% off for 2 years.

Tech savy startup (modem etc) was $249, so I will be staying with Rogers.

I suggest you long term Rogers types phone them and get this deal.

i did a similar thing with bell yesterday and was pretty happy at the end of it.

It always pays to threaten leaving.

While we're on this subject i know a few people that agreed to get fibe TV for pretty cheap. Sounds like quality is good too.

I don't think Rogers offers unlimited internet, are you sure it's not ultimate?

Very sure. I logged in to check usage and it reads. "No usage data. Unlimited"

They totally screwed me by giving me an enhanced program guide that makes my box impossible to use with my DVR, after sending me a letter that said none of my settings would be changed. They said there was no way to rectify the situation. An apology was all they had for me. I've made a complaint to management. Did you call to officially cancel Raptorman, because when I said I had no other option I just got a goodbye. What a stupid setup for customer relations.

speak to their loyalty dept. LX.
That area has carte banche to change just about anything on your account at lower prices. And even if you speak to someone who doesn't meet your request, call back and you'l get another person who will likely give you a different answer.

It's a bit ridiculous that we have to jump through these hoops as customers to get either good service or acceptible prices, but it's the nature of the beast.

I'm mostly fed up with blatant lying. It happens everywhere, as though it's just an acceptable way to treat consumers, which we mostly have allowed ourselves to be defined as, rather than demanding a relationship as customers.

Yes. I was canceling. Tech Savvy has unlimited for $60. I told them I was switching.

I put it on Facebook and another friend chimed in saying she got the same deal and is never going to use the home phone.

I do have their cable plus with the HD package. Not really very happening, but has enough channels for old me. I barely watch anything except basketball.

Give them a call. They said it was a "current promotion" . Not a special just for me.

Rogers offers unlimited bandwidth for an additional 10$ on any of their internet plans.
I was in the store returning my business' modem and they were signing up a guy for it.

I hate these guys more than anybody. People tell me my employer is evil, but banks have nothing on the telecom industry.

It seems I have to call Rogers on a monthly basis for one thing or another. Unfortunately I'm on the three year contract so I can't threaten to leave. I called in atleast 5 times to add my wife to our account so that she could change things and resolve issues while I'm at work. Every time she would call in, "sorry, you're listed on the account but you're unable to make changes". Not to mention getting the discounts they originally promised me over the phone to switch over was like pulling teeth. Which reminds me, my year is almost up and I'm due to call in to keep the promos going. That's one of the many ways how they get you, all the promos fall off after a year and you get zinged with a few hefty bills if you don't remember to call them.

Insurance companies are worse than both imo. But yeah, the telecom industry is pretty ridiculous.
