Default Cable TV

Why the hell is cable TV so expensive? It is insane!

Anyone here use FTA? How do you find it? Would you recommend it?

I would also be curious if anyone has some first hand knowledge of the cable industry in terms of unit costs. I don't see how they couldn't be making an absolute killing on these services.

Cable is making an absolute killing.

What burns me is that most of the channels are free to specific areas but cost viewers in others.

FTA is pretty solid thing to have.

Pretty costly at first, but they can be purchased at most electronics stores(totally legal to sell the FTA unit)

The best I have seen is the viewsat(one with the usb port in the front) that way when you need to put in new numbers(fixes) from bins found on various sites on the net you need to only download to a stick, scan for viruses then carry the stick out to your receiver and load them as oppossed to unhoocking the whole receiver and lugging it to your computer.

The other thing that is an awesome purchase is a motor for the dish itself. That way you can preprogram satellite locations and have the dish move itself as you want, as opposed to having 3 or 4 fixed dishes on the side of your property/house/apt.

They do tend to go down alot at times, and sometimes fixes arent immediately found. If you get it, go with the basic of basic cable package as well. that way if you lose the FTA for a couple of days you can still have something to watch if the desire arose.

I only really got TV because my roommate wants it. So if it goes down for a few days I'm not too fussed.

Thanks!

i switched from Rogers to Bell because Rogers was just too expensive. My building has a communal sattelite dish on the roof so i don't have to pay for my own dish.

now i get more channels and i pay less than i did with Rogers. I'm glad i switched.

I am trying to work something out with my buddy that works at bell now.

It's insane man, they won't even let me bundle my Rogers with my cell and internet for a discount unless I sign up for a contract!

NO MORE CONTRACTS! BITE ME!

Yea I hate contracts. My parents signed a 2 year contract for bells like 3 years ago and it was shit. The worst thing was we couldn't sut it cuz of the contract. Now I have Rogers. No contract

FTA is good but there are many downtimes for which you then search the code up on the internet and put it in. MIne doesn't work now-a-days. No one really cares though(in my family I mean)

Ya fta is down right now, something about dish network and bell upgrading to unhackble technology (n3), I just took down all of my satellites lol, gave up on free tv. Personally I have Rogers and get the VIP package but my parents only pay around 30 a month I believe.

I don't know how they did that. I think basic is around 30 bucks plus tax.

FTA is totally down right now with no solid date for a return. There are TONS of rumours and speculations. DONT BELIEVE THEM.

There are many people with LOTS of $$$ invested into the FTA "business". They will say anything to get you to buy a unit. Dont! Wait until N3 is resolved - and it may never be.

The last time it took 6 months to solve N2. There is no way to say when, or if, N3 will be cracked.

Or just open up the box thing at the side of your house take out the filter and ta-da ou got free cable. I didn that for like 9 years, and they kept on cutting it. They said we will take legal action if ya do it again then after 9 years my parents finally bought cable lol

I get free basic at my condo and my parents have everything Rogers so I'm pretty sure that's the price, I'm certain my cheap ass parents wouldn't pay too much for cable lol

I belive if a man can make something it can be hacked. FTA world won't let N3 take them down cause they will loose to much money.
