sequels planned from the beginning to be a sequel, like say a trilogy, if the first movie is good, they usually all turn out good. But sequels planned after the sucess of a movie is seen, well, those usually tank cause there's no plot left.

Ya you worded it better. Saying that this movie will blow. Most of his characters are one dimensional anyways. Would be like sitting threw a sequel of talladega nights.

Sequels are based on math. If a movie makes $150 mil, the sequel will guarantee a $50 mil first week before anyone knows it sucks.

I put random numbers, but you get the point.

How about Die Hard 3,
or Adams Family 2
Ace Ventura 2
all just as good as the original.

Obviously there are exceptions, (Star Trek: Wrath of Khaaaaaan comes to mind) but for the most part, sequels (unplanned ones) suck and add little to the original.

The thing I don't understand is when movies suck why people go?

Like back in the 80's/90's you could only really go by word of mouth or by what was in the paper (and you may not like the reviewer)

Now we have crowd sourcing, you know if it's worth going...Why taint good memories?

Boondock Saints 2 was so bad it made me hate Boondock Saints.

That's exactly why I never watched the second. I loved the first, and knew it would ruin it.

I felt like that when they came up with a sequel to the Matrix. A fabulously imaginative movie made me rethink my own evaluation of the original. I was so disgusted I couldn't even watch it

you know i really don't get the hate that the other Matrix movies get.

I think parts 2 and 3 are both rather good. Part 1 is great, but we're talking one of the best scifi movies of all time. I like 2 and 3 enough, feel like they do the story justice and to me were just pain entertaining. I know i'm in the minority, but i always considered the matrix one of my favorite trilogies.
