Better Music??

Hmmmmmm?

Did that question from a fan on American Idol the other night make you think about starting a thread like that here?

Anyhow, when you talk about rock'n roll I know most will refer to Chuck Berry being godfather of it, but for me the most influential rock music came from the "British Invasion" and others from back in the day. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, The Yardbirds, The Animals, The Hollies, etc. And that was only the first wave. Then you get the second wave of bands like The Clash, The Police and the Sex Pistols who could of been considered just as influential but catering to a much different and younger crowd.

Brits hands down. :)

Benzo 03-15-2008 12:38 PM

I think the Brits are still doing it too...

I was go to the Brit billboard charts after you get through the big songs at the top, you'll find some gems that will be hits in America in a year or so. I suppose it works the other way too....meh.

i refuse to vote, because I really can't think of ONE country alone that produces the best music.

There are lots of great new groups from all those countries listed, but at the same time there is a million times more shitty, terrible bands that come from the same places.

personally, i don't know too much about top 40 stuff. I tend to focus more on indie groups.

Pfft ... welcome to last year ..... Groovy Food's "The Mars Project" and "Soul System Soma" have been on my iPod for ages now. Crankin' "So Uneasy" is a pumpin' tune. You need a pump you up song, that's a damn good one. :guitar:

Ill vote to Other. In my top favourites there are more english bands, but also, most modern music as we know it was developed in the US, specially jazz and blues. Allthough Im not a big fan of the current "indie movement" there are some pretty good bands comming from Canada now.

All Im going to say that most music today is crap it doesnt matter where it comes from.

BTW, I would like to get a groovy food album too.

ClingRap 03-15-2008 01:51 PM

Not much of a rock fan, but purchased fink's "distance and time" album the other day and im loving it. i'd have to say about 80% of the stuff that im listening to these days is from the other side..
you no likey the indie scene belsius? whats up with that? i think sometimes it gets confused with being a genre, but i consider it to be more of a political statement.

Belsius 03-15-2008 02:35 PM

The problem thing whith "indie" movements is that most of the time they are the less independent music of all. I usually like some of the bands that "start" the movement but then a thousand of imitating bands appear that are completely crap and convert that movement to a "Fad".

I dont like movements, I like when bands do whatever they want.

Acie 03-15-2008 02:41 PM

Benzo you have the latest CD, but I can email you some stuff we just started working on that I've already sent to Doc for his approval. BTW, working on commission is good and the first cheque is in the mail.

Belsius PM your address and I'll send you a CD.
