did it seem ridiculous at the end of the episode i really like the divide it created and how it all came to bitch slap them in the end. rick stepped up to show why he's the leader and why a dude like shane is a little bitch. i was so hoping that dale was gonna X him out when they were in the woods together.

every episode i'm expecting to hear from buddy on the radio or from meral, but realistically, i think we're just supposed to think they're dead. the odds of them finding each other would just make it stupid when you think about it.

No way, there'll be something that ties it all up. It may not be until the end of the entire series, but somehow we'll be hearing from that guy and his son again.

what's to tie up? the story of soph shows that it's not a pretty world where the fairytale endings come true. i think the whole purpose of buddy was for rick to give his dairy of how things are going.

Ultimately the energy that drives the show is all about loved ones becoming monsters and needing to be destroyed. It was in the first episode, and it brought everything back into focus in the last episode, both in the way the old guy saw the walkers as sick people, and in the way the girl had to be shot. You take away that mindfuck of a dilemma and the show has nothing. The whole thing just got raised to another level in that finale.

Precisely.

Hell, in the graphic novels, there's a discussion of killing Rick, because from his point of view it's how many times can Rick escape death in the world. It's not realistic.

That's the lovely part of this show, is that there is no fairy tale. It just is.

I didn't say anything about fairy tales. "Tie up" doesn't = fairy tales. It's a show about zombies, there's no happy ending

I just mean that I highly doubt that's the last we've seen of that guy and his son. There will be SOMETHING, I'm sure - not necessarily something nice or happy. It may even be the same situation as Sophia, and we find that guy as a walker. Who knows.

It DID seem ridiculous (to me).... I can somewhat understand turning a blind eye to the walkers that are already in the barn, but going out of your way to risk handling 2 more so that you can add them to the already sizeable group? I dunno...

(in regards to bold)They already set that precedent though when they had Rick find his wife and daughter. The odds of THAT happening had to be much smaller than them running into a guy like Merle (sp?), who's a heck of a survivor. If they wanted him dead they would've just let him die on the roof.

I think that Morgan and his son will show up again eventually.

haven't read the comics so i have no idea who the following character is...

read an article this morning that Michonne and her "Jaw-less Pet Walkers" might be making an appearance in the 2nd half of season 2...apparently she is a real badass

Damn... that would be AMAZING. Michonne might finally give the show a female character who isn't annoying as fuk. She's arguably the most kick-ass character in the comics.

Yep. In the comics whenever there's a dicey situation and they need a whole bunch of zombies killed she's the one they call to do it. And she does it WELL.

Only thing I always wondered was how the hell she kept her swords sharp lol.

it's awesome how people can watch the exact same thing and come away with complete different perspectives. the farm, without the crew (rick/shane) was a peaceful, tranquil place where they were living with and handling the walkers in a non-violent way due to them being friends and family. since we were introduced to the farm, the barn was always filled with walkers, yet it was never an issue until the outsiders found out what was inside of it.

rick going out and helping him collect the walkers was him recognizing how life (order) was there and doing what he need to do to keep his family safe in the confines of the farm. i think LX mentioned it early in the thread, but the greatest thing the people need to overcoming in order to survive is each other, and aside from the soph incident, i think that was pretty evident with shane throughout the last episode. one thing for sure, they're quickly going to learn that living on a farm with a barn filled with walkers is a lot safe than living on the road, especially in their chaotic ways.

yeah, i didnt mean it to come as that. i just don't see any good to the story having him and his son return, especially as walkers. they're too far gone from atlanta. i'm sticking to them just being there to introduce compassion and for rick's radio blogs

Would they have been safe though? It's all well and good to assume that, but what happens when you can't fit any more walkers in the barn? What would have happened if one or two planks had come loose during the night and some walkers would have got out?

Rich hit the nail on the head when he told Hershel that he didn't know what these things were capable of.... that they had been isolated on the farm and had never seen how dangerous the walkers could actually be.

I like Rick. I'm all for him trying to do things respectfully and peacefully.... but there comes a point where you have stand your ground.

I think that that was the beauty of having Rick and Shane showcase their views in that last episode.... both of their ideas had merit... yet both were flawed in the end.

i don't think the barn filling up was an issue, nor planks becoming loose. the way i see it, is the first safe haven was a place for death, an easy way to die and they weren't ready for it. this place is a place for life and they're not ready to accept it.

i don't see how your example of what rick said to hershel applies. when he said it, he was fighting to stay on the farm opposed to being sent back on the road.
