I watched it too. It wasn't bad, eh?

The only thing that bugs me is that it's a carbon copy of Gene Simmons' Family Jewels, right down to the "new theme song".

But I dig Dee. And his oldest son.... He's ok by me.

It is kind of cheesy how they used basically the same template, but I liked the fact that Dee wasn't a bumbling fool like they always make the dad appear to be in these shows (Ozzy, Gene, the Hulkster).

Also, I can't stand Shannon Tweed and her sister. They single handedly make Family Jewels unwatchable for me. On the whole the Sniders seemed much more likeable...well, as likeable as a scripted reality show family can be.

What do you (and the wife) think? Should the book be read before the series is watched? Or just watch the series and read the book later?

Dee is cooler, and isn't afraid to look like a bit of a wimp. (Like when he was so upset about the wifey tattoo thing).

Yeah. Shannon Tweed is annoying. And the more work she gets done, the more she looks like The Joker.

Did anyone here ever watch this show. It's from the 60's but my grandpa and I used to watch re-runs of this show in late 90's. I found it quite exciting.

Another one of my most favourite shows that I watched re-runs of in the 90's

Does anyone here watch the new season of Jersey Shore? I tried watching it with my sister and some parts were actually pretty funny.

Its actually one of the funniest shows on TV. Each character(besides maybe Vinny and Pauly D) are absolutely insane, they have some serious screws loose, and you combine that with alcohol, clubs, and other people around them who are equally insane and you have a recipe for carnage and hilarity.

I JUST watched Mad Men for the first time last night. Season 1, first episode. I plan to catch up.

Gotta say... (and I wrote this on my Facebook already, like the loser I am), I really love the fact that they have women who look like real women. Hippy, thicker, shapely. Hell, the stripper in one scene had a gut and a body that NO tv show would display these days. I like it.

Other than that, so far so good. I think i'm gonna be a fan of this show.

Isn't that show set in the 50's or something? Back then women with real shapes were considered sexy (look at the sex symbols back then). IMO we're more like that now then we were 10 years ago and in the 80's when stick figures were deemed sexy for some stupid reason. Booty, hips are considered sexy more now then in the past 2-3 decades.

the best thing about that show (besides the amazing acting) is it's visual and cultural portrayal of the 1960's..it's incredibly accurate

fantastic show...you're going to love it

Yea I'll be honest, I never heard about Jersey shore until a few weeks ago when I saw it on tv at a friends house. I thought the Situation and Vinny were pretty jokes...so I downloaded all of season 1 last night and just watched the whole thing lol...I feel stupider but it's a funny show.

Watched the first episode of season 2 too and single Ronnie is a beast lol

And from the Situation i learned that a fat ugly chick is a grenade and a thin chick is a land mine :haha:

A fat thin chick?

Hips and ass are definitely more in than they used to be... but not quite the same as it was then. Now, we expect chick with hips and ass to be TINY in the waist. Back then, they didn't. A fuller figure was beautiful. I'm just sayin' - it's nice to see.

Definitely - I love how dead-on they are.

my bad, an ugly thin chick is a landmine...atleast that's what the Situation says lol

And Claudius, I just watched the Modern Warfare episode of Community, so many references in the episode and it was made perfectly, it was too sick, can't wait for season 2.
