Benzo needs your help!!!

K...so I'm getting married in July. Me and the mrs. are havnt a tough time comming up with a first song. We believe to have narrowed it down to 3. Here they are. I will not tell which I prefer for fear of skewing your responses...... Or do they all suck? please I am open for other suggestions as this topic may break us up before we even get there :D.

Okay I didn't listen to the songs all of the way through, but they all sound kind of depressing.

..."to the choir"

Clearly you are not "Listening to the lyrics"

Acie 01-16-2008 11:39 PM

You're fucked. lol

Dr. J. Naismith 01-16-2008 11:40 PM

The Serena Ryder song is a great tune.

Feel free to borrow mine and my wife's first song. :D

Torontosaurus 01-16-2008 11:43 PM

Wow.. I wouldn't call them depressing but compared to my wedding song ("All my life" by Kci and Jojo) they're pretty heavy/intense. I never heard any of them before, but I like the 3rd one, if it counts for anything.

Torontosaurus 01-16-2008 11:48 PM

Great choice - Sade is always a good idea - LISTEN TO DOC!

Belsius 01-16-2008 11:50 PM

I saythe second one, the other too are too cheesey IMO (with all the respect, lol). If you accept suggestions, you cant go wrong with Something by the beatles, my brother sang it at my moms wedding an it was pretty amazing. Another good option is this one;) Congratulations by the way.

My wedding was quite small and we opted not to have a formal dance. So our "first dance" was more of an impromtu version of a drunken friend serenading us with Chris Deburgh's "Lady in Red" while we danced to it on the patio at the reception. Ours dance was more for a laugh than anything else...

...too bad i can't view youtube clips at work. so unfortunately i can't really advise anything. Hey can anyone tell me the names and the artists of the songs?

I think it's good to go with something classic, but if your tastes are more obscure then just go for which ever one the think is best.

Out of curiosity, which Beatles song did your brother sing Belsius? I'm a huge beatles fan myself.

fancylad 01-17-2008 07:32 AM

OK i manages to get a few bits of the second song from my work's computer. It's sounds pretty nice. But now you got me thinking of Nick Drake.

Not that this fits in with the multiple choice answers, but that's my suggestion. Go with a classic Nick Drake song. Pink Moon is a great song. too bad it was used in a commercial.

Belsius 01-17-2008 08:16 AM

I already said it, "something" by the beatles;)

oh... something... when i read your post, i took it as you can't go wrong with something by the beatles... as in any song by the beatles. Now i can see that the S is capitalized. lol.

Belsius 01-17-2008 08:34 AM

well thats also true you cant go wrong with something by the beatles

fancylad 01-17-2008 08:44 AM

I don't know... Helter Skelter, tomorrow never knows, revolution no.9 may be some questionable choices.

Oh yeah.... congrats Benzo, BTW.

Belsius 01-17-2008 09:24 AM

HELTER SKELTER, what can be better to play in your wedding than the song that inspired manson to do his killings ?

Claudius 01-17-2008 10:43 AM

Song 2.

And fuck weddings. I'm attempting to get around that entire ordeal myself. My friend is getting married in a pub in Scotland. Her reasoning. Get as drunk as possible so you forget it.

I actually want to "fake" a wedding. I.e. Just elope and take photos at a later date (you know, the garden, the beach etc.) just so I keep people happy.

I got married in Cuba last year with about 35 friends and family in attendance. That's the way to do it, I tell ya. No hassles, no worries, lots and lots of booze, and cheap, cheap, cheap, especially if you plan on a honeymoon anyways. You get to spend a full week (or 2) with all your buds, and evryone has a good, relaxed time.

The only problem is that you rely on the resort DJ for your tunes, so our first dance was some club bullshit, but no one really cared anyways because everyone was on holiday.

If I could have chosen my 'first song' it would definitely be from the 'Ella and Louis' album. Maybe "Dream a little dream of me" or "Cheek to Cheek". Those two sound like they've been in love for 50 years in every song on that album.

Sorry about the cheesy animation here, but the song is fantastic. Ella is just the greatest female vocalist of all time. Hands down.

If you can elope CG, I highly recommend it. I love my wife dearly, but she was a bridezilla for the year prior to our wedding.

Also, I'd stay away from song #3. With a lyric like "all this living makes me want to do is die 'cause I can't live with you", I'm not so sure it's wedding appropriate...
