Thumbs up Bell Fibe 25 Internet

So, I just upgraded my internet to the Bell Fibe 25.

25mb down and 7mb up.

What can i say....this shit is fast as hell! I down load a lot of 720p and 1080p stuff and man this service makes all the diffrence....and it was the same price as what i was paying for my Fibe 16...

This shit download lighting fast (3mb/second solid) and is so great that even when downloading at 25mbit/sec(3mb/s) I can still serf the web with no lag. If its been a while since you called in to upgrade I would highly recommed it.

This was the second time I upgraded since may (from 10mb/s->16mb/s->25bm/s) and my bill its pretty much the exact same. The modem/router they supply is an amazing linkis/cisco box that preforms like a champ and is made for high speed transfers.

how much are you paying a month?

had sympatico for the longest time, had pretty good speeds (consistent 900kb/sec) through wifi but it was $60 a month so I cancelled and I'm on Rogers High speed express internet right now (1mb/sec) through wifi, think it's $40 a month through a bundle.

M5Racer are your torrents throttled during peak hours? Do you have unlimited downloads?

Personally I would like to upgrade but if I do I would loose my unlimited downloads so its just not worth it. Also Im throttled usually from 5pm - 2am so the extra speed really would do nothing for me.

Sorry for not getting abck to you for so long, I kinda forgot about this post.

No, my torrents are not throttled during peak hours,

Price - $74.90 includes $67.95/month Internet package and $6.95/month modem fee + I pay an extra $15 for 120 extra gig download bandwidth to brinf the total up to 220gigs/month (which is more then enough for me and I down load all tv shows and movies in 720/1080p.

Yeah see here is my problem, they have prices on their website and they are completely misleading.

All the prices listed are if you also get home phone. I looked at getting Fibe 12 (didn't need more than that) and it was listed at $36.75 a month.

I called up, the true price is $55 a month. You get ~$20 off if you also get a bell homephone. Homephone costs you $22 for the basic package.

So in my case, as I'm sure is the same as others, I could pay $2 for a homephone but I still don't want it. So I'm still better off getting just the net for $55 then the net and phone for $57.

It's just misleading, it really pissed me off.

This leads me to my question...What now?

I want to be able to stream most of my TV online. My previous internet usage was 6-8 Gb a month in my old place so the total cap I don't think is a problem because they always seem to give you more than enough with the speed you buy.

My issue is where can I get reliable speed for the least cost. I've never had an issue with rogers but what is my likely speed during the throttling periods?

HELP!

Go to the independent companies like tech savy...although they use the same infrastructure as bell and rogers (depending on company).

Thanks for the tip but I had already checked tek savvy and this other one (velcom i think).

Anyways, I ended up getting SUUUUPER lucky here. Got the nicest agent on the planet he knocked $15 a month of off the fibe12 deal, which is what I wanted to begin with...No contract either.

So life is ok.

The results of my search was that if you are unconcerned with cap space (the lowest is still 25GB which is a lot) speed wise it seems to best choice is:

5MB- Velcom

10-12MB: Very very close between Rogers and Fibe. I had a hard time deciding. Fibe (12MB) has faster speed, Rogers (10 MB) has more capacity and the price is about the same.

15 MB- It becomes more of a three-man race with Teksavvy at that point. They make you pay for service calls though, and have a lot of start-up charges so you'd have to figure out how that impacts you for how long you have service.

I decided I didn't need that much juice so I didn't bother there.

Lol you got sympatico? and payed for it? and though 900kb/sec was decent? at either 60 or 40 a month thats horrid, why the hell would you do that lol. Either way my internet is through rogers along with everything else, and I have no complaints.

That's not too bad at all.. the best part being your not throttled. I could probably even get by on 120 Gig/month. I didn't realize they give you that much. Id pay a bit extra if I wasn't throttled. Its so annoying when I have to wait til the next day to watch something like Dexter.
