Default Beastie Boy Adam "MCA" Yauch Has Cancerous Tumor

Good news is it sounds like they caught it early. I hope he makes a full recovery.

"The good news is that they did scans of my whole body and it's only localized in this one area and it's not in a place that affects my voice," Yauch says. "So, that's nice. That's convenient."

The cancer is in his left parotid gland and "also in a lymph node right in that area," he says.

He will probably have surgery next week and radiation treatments afterward, he says.

With band mate Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz sitting next to him, Yauch tells fans how he found out he had cancer.

"About two months ago, I started feeling this little lump in my throat, like you would feel if you have swollen glands or something like that, like you'd feel if you have a cold, so I didn't really think it was anything," he says.

His doctor sent him to a specialist who diagnosed the cancer, he says.

Yauch does not estimate how long the tour will be delayed, but he apologizes to "anyone who's made plans" to come to the shows.

The illness will also delay the release of the band's next album, "Hot Sauce Committee Part 1," he says.

My name is M.C.A., I've got a license to kill
I think you know what time it is, it's time to get ill
Now what do we have here, an outlaw and his beer
I run this land, you understand, I make myself clear
We stepped into the wind, he had a gun, I had a grin
You think this story's over but it's ready to begin

Damn, I wish him a speedy recovery. Beastie Boys made a song with Nas too just recently.

P.S. Nas > any rapper that has ever lived.

Illmatic and It Was Written are two of the greatest rap albums. The only real disappointing album was 'Nastradamus', all that shit was garbage except for like 2 songs. But he revived his career again with Stillmatic, which is one of the best comeback albums ever. Nas is a lyrical genius, his flow is amazing, he's great.

Nas absolutely attacked every verse on Illmatic, there wasn't one song on that album was not fire. But after Illmatic, Nas put out great tracks and only above average albums. His material following Illmatic wasn't consistent enough to warrant him the top spot, but the fact he can even be considered one of the greatest, mostly due to one album, speaks to how incredible Illmatic was.

1. Jay-Z
2. Biggie
3. Rakim
4. Nas
5. Tupac

The Beastie Boys are the epitome of real hip-hop - brilliant music. Hopefully they fix MCA up.

WHAT? Jay-Z as number one? I would say Nas>Jay-Z. Your top 5 isn't bad but I would include Big Pun and Big L for sure.

Whoa, relax about Jay-Z being the best rapper of all-time there. Nas murdered Jay-Z during their little feud. Ether, the single greatest diss song ever recorded (maybe actually after Hit 'Em Up by Tupac). I mean come on, Takeover was OK but I'm not much of a Jay-Z fan. Like I like his songs but to me, he doesn't warrant the top 5 (definitely top 10 though) of best rappers of all-time.

If we're talking about best rappers of all-time, that list HAS TO contain Nas, Biggie, 2Pac, Eric B & Rakim, KRS-One, Big L, Eminem and Jay-Z. Then you get in to the B-List which would contain guys like Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Common, Talib Kweli, Gangstarr, Big Pun, Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep (pre-G-Unit), Dr. Dre, De La Soul, Outkast, Public Enemy and Run DMC.

Guys who are new to the game that I might consider to become some of the best, maybe Jadakiss and definitely Lupe Fiasco if he keeps it up.

Jada is the shit, Big Pun is on the A-List imo. I wouldn't consider Snoop or Ice Cube on the B-List, I would rate them lower.

Canibus, AZ, Cormega, Lord Finesse, The Roots, Children of the Corn (Murda Mase, Killa Cam, Bloodshed) are all good too. Oh yeah I also really dig Crooked I.

True at Canibus, AZ and Cormega.

Forgot Immortal Technique, he might get in there soon.

You're right, Ether beat the crap out of Takeover, but Jay-Z has just had too many five star albums and hit songs to not warrant top spot.

Hit 'em up was a good song, not a good diss track. It was essentially just a bunch of "fuck you" and "kill you" but no real biting disses - almost like a five minute tantrum.

If you're talking top ten I'd go:

1. Jay-Z
2. Biggie
3. Rakim
4. Nas
5. Tupac
6. KRS-One
7. Big L
8. Talib Kweli
9. Big Daddy Kane
10. Eminem
