i think its easier.

overall i'm very happy with the routine i have going, isolating and what not. the only thing my routine is missing is a compound exercise for my legs, because i'm physically unable to squat without hurting my back. i've seen my doctor about it and apparently the end of my spine curves out more than the average spine, so no matter how far i go down in a squat, my back rounds on the way up.

does anyone know any really good substitutes for squatting that i can do with barbells or free weights? I do the hack squat but I'm not the biggest fan. also i do heavy deadlifts once a week, so i guess you could say my hammies and lower back are accounted for.

thought, have you tried any of the squat machines?
the ones that have you in a seated position would probably work for you.
