In fact, I highly recommend lots of protein on a cut, because it helps prevent muscle loss. You want the weight you lose to be fat, not lean muscle. Ideally, on a cut, you eat high protein, LIFT HEAVY, and then keep calories down. You'll read this over and over on line, but I can also confirm this from first hand experience. When i got back into lifting a little over a year ago, I weighed 220ish and was chubby (didn't realize how bad until I looked at the progress pics). I cut/recompositioned to 185lbs.

Also, remember that there is more than one way to run a caloric deficit. Either exercise more, or cut down the calories you eat; just make sure you consume fewer calories than you use to do whatever it is you do in a day.

So, obviously, for your cut to work best, you need to get an accurate assessment of what your calorie requirements are on a daily basis. That is where a lot of people fuck up their weight loss/cut. I try to calculate my requirements on the low end of the possible range, and aim a few hundred per day under that, to be safe.
Damn, I had no idea you lift

That's why I started posting in here about a year ago at this time. I was successfully re-habbing a nagging shoulder injury (after several failed attempts in the past), which allowed me to slowly transition back into regularly lifting. In my late teens, I lifted for several consecutive years before getting hurt. This time around I'm not going as HAM on the volume. Trying to be smarter about it and listen to my body and take days off when needed, even if my mind doesn't want to. So far I've held up for a about a year.

I didn't really take nutrition seriously until there was a discussion about cutting in here a few months after I started. It prompted me to look into it more, and monitoring calories and upping my protein intake excellerated my weight loss.

i'm an "old school" kind of guy when i go to the gym...i rarely talk to anyone because i'm too busy doing what i came there to do...workout !
i like to keep a certain pace and maintain a level of intensity in order to actually work my body...

so i'm at the gym yesterday and there's two guys (mid 20s) doing this really "pussy" routine together...but the part that really bothered me was that they were filming each other with their phones while doing it...they were taking extra benches, getting in other members' way etc etc
finally, i'd had enough...walked right over to both of them during the filming and told the both of them to fuck off on camera...told them if they didn't stay out of everyone's way that i'd take both of their phones and shove them up their buddy's ass

and i meant it

they got the message and left

Came back from a week long vacation to absolutely let loose and party and eat my way to bliss (or death depending on the night) weighing 198 at 27 percent body fat. I'm now at 24 percent and 193. Fell off the wagon for a bit for my birthday but getting back on tomorrow.

Thank you p90x

Weren't you under 20% less than a year ago?

You fell off the wagon and landed in an ice cream truck.

At the risk of sounding like a douche who is assuming you don't know what you're getting....I feel compelled to say...be sure you're getting what you're expecting. These advertisements are sometimes misleading. Some of the stuff in that pic might not be included. I've heard of other people getting misled, so I got curious and looked around on the site. There is another power rack (twice the cost) where the add makes it more explict that the lat attachment and weight rack are included, which, by implication, would seem to suggest that they aren't included in yours, but are instead "optional" for you to add on at additional cost.

^ Having said all that, personally, if I was building a home gym for myself, I wouldn't consider the lat attachement as necessary, anyway. No big loss if you get a rack without one. Wide grip pullups are, arguably, more effective anyway, especially when you get strong enough to add some weight to yourself with a belt or back-pack.

Last time I was under 20 was 3 years ago. Lowest I've been in the past 2 years has been 22 percent.

I landed in a gelato truck. Not an ice cream truck.

Yeah I know the lat attachment isn't included lol...I just need the rack if I'm gonna work out at home. Pullups and rows are good enough. I'd get the dip bar attachment and the t-bar row attachment before the lat attachment. Appreciate the concern though.

Set up that rack in my basement on Saturday. Feels nice to squat/bench at home in a safe environment. Probably wont be going to the gym again.

It's been 6.5 months since I started going to the gym 5-7 days a week.

Went from 265 - 230 in the first 3 months. Now down to 215.

Trying to come up with creative ways to keep shedding BF%...

Any suggestions?

cardio+lifting while on a low carb net defecit calorie defecit is the fastest way to shedding body fat. Easier said than done, but if you can, you'll be lean and cut in no time.

Guys, just to state the obvious, and repeat what was said earlier in the thread, cardio is NOT automatically necessary to lean down. The caloric deficit is what is needed, and you can achieve that a number of ways. Doing more cardio is just one way.
