![]() I'll have mine up tomorrow, want to the proper measurements at the beginning, probably smart to pick up one of those BF% calipers also. Any digital scale you guys would recommend from Canadian tire or something that calculate BF% also?

10% (visible 6-pack and good vascularity) is what people are going to get to natty. Good to hear that you're still hitting the gym though and that getting a girl hasn't made you soft. ![]() |

![]() yeah. i have a friend who eats fast food 2/3 meals a day, and has been consistently ripped since he started lifting. i keep a pretty tight diet (with some cheats), lift pretty hard, and have never really been that toned.

![]() i'm the same way at my peak I was at 14 percent, and that was cause I had intense 2 or so hours of cardio daily with all the sports teams in practices and games, then did another hour of p90x once I got home. ate pretty well too. all that and all I managed was 14.... |

![]() BBC did a documentary on weight gain in order to look at the various factors that lead to obesity. There's actually a number of things that can contribute to being hugely overweight, and the factors may be different for different individuals.
As one aspect of that documentary, they looked at some really thin people (ecto-morph types) who participated in a weight gain study. They replicated it for the documentary. They had these thin-ass dudes and dudettes eat waaaaaaay more than their necessary caloric intake on a daily basis. In order to get so far above their caloric needs, they had to eat a bunch of junk food. I'm talking lots of cake, chocolate items, McDicks...etc... Eventually the skinny people gained weight and their body fat went up, although probably not at as high a rate as other people. But, the really interesting thing is, one dude's weight went up but his body fat wouldn't. He was gaining mass without gaining fat. He just got thicker. Every week for several months he was consuming thousands and thousands of shit calories over his needed intake and yet his BF stayed almost exactly the same (continued to be low). So, yeah, for some people there is undoubtedly a genetic component. I would guess it's like a spectrum, where some people win the genetic lottery and others lose big time. But the people in the middle have varying degrees of control depending on how they manage their diet and exercise routine. Last edited by Bill Haverchuck; 08-01-2013 at 03:44 AM. |

![]() Holly jesus. Thats insane man.
I've been away from this site for soo long i forgot about this thread. Anyways, just started hitting the gym after a 3 year hiatus. Been working out hard for about 1 month now. Went from 212lb to 198lb in the past month. Use to play a bit of football until few years ago @ 225-230lbs but haven't done shit in the past few years while completing a degree. Anyways, I was so used to bulking up for football and now i have to completely change the way i work out and diet. Now Just trying to get toned. Currently Regimen: 60 min cardio on Tredmill and bike - Daily Mon, Wed, Fri - Chest, Biceps & Back Tues, Thurs - Legs, Shoulder & Tricep + I bike at least 25km everyday. All lifting is done With dumbbells. Sat & Sun are days off Diet: Breakfast: egg whites and oatmeal Lunch: Chicken, Broccoli & Rice Dinner: Chicken, shit ton of greens and egg whites Apples for snacks, trying to keep carbs to a minimum and cranking up protein intake (around 8-12 egg whites) Any thoughts? advice? What supplements do you guys use? |
