There are a lot of things you can do without a Gym membership brother.

The insanity workout is hell, you can do that. DL it.

Yeah, that's what I did. And you don't HAVE to go by their specific program... just pick one of the workouts and do it at your own pace. You'll feel it the next day in places you didn't know HAD muscles.

Running outside? I used to do that whenever I could ... wake up early, go for a run ... awesome feeling.

I need to learn how to do that. I just moved to a great spot for running, but I always hated it. Maybe it's a gradual thing.

A med school friend (one of those ridiculous, over-achieving, marathon runner types ) trained me in our first year ... she set up a training program and I was running 10K comfortably in a little less 3 months.

Finding someone to show you how to do it helps a lot.

Yeah, I should find someone. I also don't think I run properly, and would likely injure myself.

dont download it.
i'd bet all of my money that you wont even use it.

if you really wanted to start working out, you'd be working out already... not complaining and getting advise from a message board.

Hmm.... by your theory nobody can START working out. Either you are born working out, or you will never work out.

Your Theory sucks!

You're partly right, but it depends.

I hated working out... it's just not my thing. But I downloaded the Insanity stuff, and I try to do it every couple of days. So, really, it's just about finding something that you don't completely hate.

i like my theory.
truly, if you want to do something, you just go and do it... you find a gym nearby, you start running on your own, you create a routine at home doing pushups/situps etc if you cant go to a gym.

you dont just sit around and talk about it, you make it happen.
and the fact that he's already complaining about his life wizzing by at 16 and that he doesnt want to celebrate because of all his stress... well then im thinking this guy isnt the workout type.
but thats just me.

Running is the best. I hope I have the knees to do it my entire life. It's a very theraputic form of exercise. I love going out as the sun sets or close to midnight. It's a very inexpensive and not very time consuming way to have a strong heart. In the good months I run 5k in between 20 and 27 minutes 3 or 4 times a week...it's awesome

It's weird but I can't run constant on the treadmill. I get bored and tired...so i do interval training in the winter... altering speed and incline...but when i'm outside in real air actually going somewhere I love it.

I ran the Run for the Cure last year in october..it's a 5k and I did it in 22:07 which was my first marathon of any distance. This year i'd like to do a 10 k...but i'll have to work up to that

i started swimming again a couple of months ago, and I must say it has become my favorite cardiovascular workout. They've got a pretty good pool at the gym I go to (salt water) and it's always dead mid-day.
Any other swimmers in here?
