Question Anyone ever sprained a finger?

I sprained the middle finger on my left hand in June and it still hurts from time to time (makes playing guitar and bass a bitch sometimes).

I just read online that even though it's probably healed, it's not uncommon to feel pain for up to 18 months after the injury occured.

Sprained a pinky in the picking hand like a year ago playing ball. Still hurts. And I cant pop it anymore.

I really dont care that much because its the pinky but if it was another finger I would go to the doc.

Basketball is not a good sport for musicians, I always break my nails, wich is a bitch for the classical.

I sprained my left index finger about 6 years ago in a freak weight room accident and to this day it still hurts. You should get it checked out if you can Acie - even if its at a walk-in clinic.

Shitty stuff guys!

Our dumbass old bass player and I had hoisted a PA speaker above our heads and he let go and I basically caught it and it bent my finger back in a really unnatural way.

I've had mild sprains before from playing basketball and volleyball, but nothing that's lingered like this. I guess maybe I should get it checked out.

i dislocated my left pinky about 10 years ago during a highschool basketball game.
it was twisted and bent the wrong way.
one of the teachers who did some missionary work in africa - thought with her extensive medical background - we should try to crack it back into place.
she ended up mangling my finger even worse and i had to go to the hospital.

the doctor snapped it back.
to this day i cant bend it all the way, and it still hurts if i try.

I had a jammed finger once from basketball. However, I believe it was a sprained finger because the pain lasted for about a month. I didn't bother to tell anyone about it since the pain wasn't really anything serious or excruciating.

The sprained ankle and the jammed finger: two fights a baller can never win. I've lost count of how many times I've jammed the middle finger on either of my hands, but I can't say the pain has ever lingered as long as yours has.

Dislocated both pinkies playing ball when I was in Cambodia. Snapped them back into place, but they're still not completely straight.

Index finger broken last year playing ball. I thought it was just sprained and went to a clinic. Unfortunately, they did not advise on an x-ray. A week later, it still hurt so I went to another clinic for an x-ray and found it was broken. I had to have surgery on it and they inserted this long pin throughout the length of my finger. It did not help that I did not get along with the specialist - we hated each other.

After 2 months they took the pin out and I started going to finger therapy. I still can't make a fist of it, but the therapy chick was hot especially when she was massaging my hand

I guess the moral of the story is when it comes to sprain/broken bone, only an x-ray can tell for sure.

I play an electric.

Some of the stories here are pretty grim sounding compared to mine. I guess I need to suck it up.

lol i just stop playing ball, but before that i played for more than ten years. the passed two years i seemed to sprain my fingers a lot-- like once a week. its really annoying, but i eventually got used to it; so much that after i did it i could still play like normal. they do take quite a while to stop hurting though.
