Anyone else psyched for new season of Dexter?

My favorite show is returning in a couple weeks, the best show on TV imo and im pumped up!! ? Just curious, any other Dexter fans out there?

huge dexter fan

but

californiacation towers it

i was kind of disappointed in the second season. doakes was my favourite character by far. not sure how they'll replace him, he was vital to the show. i think the plot revolving around him was stretching to carry a second season. without him....i don't know, man.

Yea i have my worries aswell (btw i rank californiacation a close 2nd behind Dexter, funny that Duchovny has just checked into rehab in real life for sex addition), but the writing is so well done i just have a feeling they will pull thru. I mean the 1st season was so good, i was like, you cant top this it will be downhill from now on, but season 2 was stellar.

I hate Duchovney and never got Californication.

Dexter is pretty much my tops all-time. That first season was near perfection, and just about beats out season 1 of Twin Peaks. The second season surprised me in the way it was able to continue in a very different vein. There were some holes in some of the scripts, but it was still great, where Twin Peaks really tailed-off already in the second season.

I love the way it makes the viewer somewhat complicit in the stuff Dexter does, and really does some mind-bending stuff around the idea of evil - a very Lynchian sort of thing. I suspect in season 3, that Dex will become recognizable as a normal, non-psychotic human, and will have to reconcile that with his past.

Unbelievable. I kinda like you now. ;)

Dexter is *the* best show on TV ... love it to death. Although Deb can stand to gain a bit of weight.

Will miss Doakes, but La Guerta is on the case now.

Cannot. Wait.

Screw Dexter, bring on Heroes!

Dexter = good times.

am i the only one who dislikes dexter entirely? i don't know how anyone can get into a show where the hero is a serial killer who tortures and dismembers people. even if his 'victims' are bad people themselves, what gives this psycho the right to takle the aw and their lives into his own hands?

Benzo 09-02-2008 10:42 AM

I love Dexter...

...not the best show ever....but a great show...

his psychotic behavior is explained throughout the series....

it's easy to get into because it's original. it deranged, morbid, charming, witty, clever, and it has a solid plot.

Because at least the comic of Batman explores his dark side and is understood. And really, I've never seen Batman as a hero but rather as a villain, but again that's just me.

Dexter explodes this, simply viewing himself as a hero to society rather than understanding his own moral inadequacies and dilemas.

I would argue if Dexter thinks he is a hero....he just found a way to quell his sickness.

Meh ... I don't mind Dexter. Not my favourite show, but I do enjoying watching it. :)

I'm more pumped because the next installment of the Amazing Race starts in a couple weeks. :dancing:

dfunkie1 09-02-2008 11:03 AM

do you watch the show claudius? the guy often refers to himself as an emotionless monster. i don't think i ever recall him believing himself to be a hero, but psychopath putting his sickness to a better use. i suppose it would be great for him to just check into a mental hospital, but it's just a show.

i've seen several episodes (wifey likes it), and i know why his behaviour is as it is, and why he channels it the way he does...

for me that doesn't forgive anything. he's greasing people and hiding behind his badge and his fake personage to do it. deranged and morbid no doubt... and no thanks...
