Talking Anime and Manga appreciation thread

I have always read the comics thread in this forum, and it sparked my curiosity in the marvel and DC universes and totally expanded my interests. So I make this thread to share a bit of mine and a few others in this forum and hope that it influences some posters here as well to try and open up a new world to them. so please, if anyone would like to share any anime or manga you have read or watched in the past, please share, im always down to check out more. here's a couple of mine

Anime recently finished:

Spirited away

Probably one of my favourite animated film of all time, this thing is a massive hug just waiting to embrace your heart. don't believe me? ask some of the other posters on this forum that have considered this film to be a classic, the imagination put into this universe thanks to mr. miyazaki and the ghibili studios is something to behold.

Samurai Champloo

a series spanning only 23 episodes (wish it was longer) this has always been a personal favourite. Music by nujables (rip) and famous voice acting talents just add to the quality of this series, its a big time recommendation to the dudes out there that love katana slashers.

Angel beats

Don't let the colourful happy go-lucky, high school fun type anime art style fool you (it sure fooled me) this series is surprisingly moving, and the ending of the series will change you. I guarantee it. Never judge a book by it's cover, especially this one.

Currently reading/watching:

Deadman wonderland

though this anime (first season) is only 13 episodes long, its great, and from the get-go the action starts right away and keeps you interested. However the animated version of this anime ends in a cliff hanger, the second season is rumoured to start soon. The manga (the comic book version) is about 46 chapters and is still ongoing but this version is past the first season and nearing it's final conclusion, this will probably go down as one of my favourite books of 2010.

Usagi Drop (aka bunny drop)

For all those people that want a down to earth type anime, this series is about a man adopting his grandfather's illegitimate six-year old daughter, while at the same time juggling work, family and finding out about her past. It's quite the heart warmer and always puts me in a great mood after each episode.

One piece

shits the best, i hope this adventure never ends

I LOVE anime films. Never really got into series, but i'm a huge fan of full length movies.

Here's some i really enjoy:

Akira. Got to be the top choice. Pretty genre defining and still looks awesome today from an animation point of view.

Spirited Away. gOod call someguy. This is probably my favorite story anime wise and has some seriously impressive visuals too. It's one of my favorite movies full stop.

Ghost in the Shell is really good too. Haven't seen the sequel though.

I'd also recommend Princess Mononoke, Ninja Scroll, grave of the fireflies. Another one i really like is a film called Paprika. I think it's not so popular, but i would say it stands up well to the classics.

In closing i want to thank Japan's contribution to the art of movie making animated and otherwise.

Some of my favorites include:

- Death Note
- Full metal alchemist
- Claymore
- Ghost hunt
- D. Grayman

- My all-time favorite is Code Geass which I would highly recommend. However, there is always so much great anime coming out its like a buffet for the eyes.

- Spirited away is a great movie, basically anything by Ghibli studios. As well as Paprika that someone suggested. Deadman Wonderland is one of the weirdest I've ever seen but entertaining.
