Paprika is a great anime movie (love Satoshi Kon's work)... total mind fuck. Not sure if it influenced Christopher Nolan to create Inception but they do have their similarities.

EDIT: I'll have to check out Ergo Proxy, I'm a huge Bladerunner fan.
Checked that site out and very happy that Eve no Jikan and Puella Magi Madoka magica are ranked so high even though they aren't that popular.

I need to check out paprika, i keep forgetting

Never saw both of those, Eve no Jikan looks good though, I'll have to make note of that one too. I like their list, although lots of great animes still fall below the top 250 but it's just a good list to use if I don't really know what else to watch.

Ever seen Elfen Lied? It's fairly popular so I'm assuming you have but if not then do so!

Wow thanks for that! there are a few that grabbed my interest there. especially fate/zero. i've seen fate/stay night and it was great, didn't know there was going to be another season of it.

Death Note is a great one (especially the first half of the series). I got a few friends hooked on it and they weren't even anime watchers.

recommendations:

PlanetES

If anyone here is a fan of stories about the human spirit, this is the one to watch. I will admit, I'm only on episode 5 but it's an emotional rollercoaster. usually the show starts with sad introductions and a depressing storyline which may hit close to home (for example episode 5 is about a family that's thinking of committing suicide together because of financial problems), but when each episode ends, it ends with satisfaction. Plus each episode is its own storyline, though I do recommend that it should be watched from the beginning so you can see for yourself how each main character develops.

Here's a link for episode 1:
Watch PlanetES - Episode 1 | Watch Anime Online - Anime Series, Anime Episodes

Check it out, it's worth it.

Finished projects:
Usagi Drop

The anime which i commented about in my first post has come to a close, with the little girl, Rin all grown up and Daikichi the man who adopted her thinking of old age and her future. they all go through the usual things in life, but nearing the end of the manga, there is a massive turn of events that I did not expect, and how everyone in the story resolved it. its a hell of an ending, that was questionable, but felt good at the same time. Check it out.

ps. i will make a little list of anime /manga i was not satisfied with, later on though. after i finish up princess mononoke

- I've watched PlanetES, its pretty good but I lost interest after a few episodes.

- If you liked Death note check out Code Geass, the protagonist is a lot like Light.

- My friends watching a lot of Kindaichi now, they love these detective/thriller animes.

- Check out Hitalia - Axis Powers, its quite hilarious as each character represents one of the Allied or Axis powers from WWII. Heres a clip

Yeahhh I watched Code Geass (both seasons) and I agree, it's a good anime. For anyone that wants to see a good mech anime, they should give it a shot. My favourite mech anime would have to be Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann though, that anime can get your adrenaline rushing at some parts.

Going to start watching Ergo Proxy later tonight!!

Any of you guys seen Tekkonkinkreet? Another great anime movie to check out

It has a slightly unique art style and it reminds me somewhat of imperial boy's work

Thanks, I'll try and catch that. Don't know if it was mentioned before, but High School of the Dead is another fun anime, kind of like the Walking Dead series except in high school

I used to watch Bleach but I stopped after the first arc (soul society i think?) it was cool but lost interest after that arc.

Was that your first time watching Princess Mononoke? I love that too, soundtrack is amazing.

yeah mononoke is a film that doesn't take sides, both the human and the animals are shown their good and bad side to them so i was feeling conflicted throughout the movie until the ending which was so satisfying. unlike avatar which tries to make you hate the humans by showing theyre all one dimensional money getters and trying to make the blue alien people seem like saints.

im happy that film never won picture of the year.

and bleach is a slow moving torture. it had so much potential to be a classic among the big three animes but just shit the bed horribly after the soul society arc

That's so true. Sometimes I do pick up coffee for my coworkers when I take a break and man it's a pain in the ass. I'm not a coffee drinker so I don't know the lingo...
