- Spirited away is a great movie, basically anything by Ghibli studios. As well as Paprika that someone suggested. Deadman Wonderland is one of the weirdest I've ever seen but entertaining.
I plan to get into full metal alchemist in the future, i just keep hearing great things about it. and yes deadman wonderland is an over the top anime, but as you said its entertaining and i love the storyline.

Here's some i really enjoy:

Akira. Got to be the top choice. Pretty genre defining and still looks awesome today from an animation point of view.

Spirited Away. gOod call someguy. This is probably my favorite story anime wise and has some seriously impressive visuals too. It's one of my favorite movies full stop.

Ghost in the Shell is really good too. Haven't seen the sequel though.

I'd also recommend Princess Mononoke, Ninja Scroll, grave of the fireflies. Another one i really like is a film called Paprika. I think it's not so popular, but i would say it stands up well to the classics.

In closing i want to thank Japan's contribution to the art of movie making animated and otherwise.
Are you guys a fan of the evangelion series? they're making a 3 part movie remake of the series. The first 2 parts of the series is already released and right now the 3rd part is finishing up I can't wait, especially with all the rumours of a completely new ending.
Btw downloading princess mononoke as i type lol

Full Metal is my top 3 fav anime with Death Note and DBZ. Only 50 episodes for the original and i believe 60 for the remake?

Yes, watched them both but liked the remake better which was titled Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood as the story was better and it actually followed the manga more closely. There were also a few Ova's or short films they made for this series.

Even the adult oriented Anime seems juvenile. Probably sue to the translation.

Some anime films are worth watching though.

anyone a fan of the film bladerunner?

check out ergo proxy

The storyline may seem similar (detective woman going around finding human looking robots that committed a murder) but its starting to get good with it's twists, I haven't finished it yet, so I don't know the ending.

edit:
my friend sent me this picture

I remember Angel Beats, Someguy recommended that to me before and it was pretty good.

I tried getting into One Piece but there are just too many episodes and I don't want to have to go through it all to catch up. I only reached about episode 50 or so. I tend to stick with animes that are up to 24 episodes long so that I could have an ending to them.

Can't wait for the Berserk anime coming out soon, I saw the old one and now I'm hoping that they animate the ENTIRE story line instead of just 1 story arc. Hope they make it just as dark and violent as the manga.

The animation quality in that trailer looks amazing. Totally will be checking that bad boy out, here are a few of my favourite fight scenes btw:

Samurai Champloo is one of my favourite animes of all time. I always recommend it to people that want to get into anime.

I haven't watched any for the past 2 years or so but I'm trying to get back into it again. Currently downloading "stein's;gate", I just saw it getting some good ratings so hopefully I'll enjoy it!

Also want to add that this is where I usually go if I want to get an idea on what to watch next:

Anime News Network - Top 250 Best Rated

Paprika is a great anime movie (love Satoshi Kon's work)... total mind fuck. Not sure if it influenced Christopher Nolan to create Inception but they do have their similarities.

EDIT: I'll have to check out Ergo Proxy, I'm a huge Bladerunner fan.
