Default Amy Winehouse Found Dead

Quote:
Amy Winehouse, the beehived soul-jazz diva whose self-destructive habits overshadowed a distinctive musical talent, was found dead Saturday in her London home, police said. She was 27.

Winehouse shot to fame with the album “Back to Black,” whose blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop was a global hit. It won five Grammys and made Winehouse — with her black beehive hairdo and old-fashioned sailor tattoos — one of music's most recognizable stars.

Police confirmed that a 27-year-old female was pronounced dead at the home in Camden Square northern London; the cause of death was not immediately known. London Ambulance Services said Winehouse had died before the two ambulance crews it sent arrived at the scene.

I don't like her music that much, but I knew she had big problems. People always said that she is vulnerable physically and emotionally. R.I.P.

Wow. Like week ago, biggest youtube hit was hers on drugs performance in Belgrade.

I just few days ago I randomly found some article/prognosis "The 100 Most Likely People To Die In 2010'', old article, Amy was on the list. And she was like the only person I actually know and I though, ha, she still performing in Belgrade and stuff, and it's 2011. Wow...

Apparently, Amy was a manic depressive, so it was way more than being a wild party girl. The vast majority of wild party girls avoid death. Amy was, by all accounts, an opiate addict which is a whole other deal. Gaga's not an addict.

I wondering what was wrong. Depression always has a reason, i know, I have major depression myself. It sucks way more some people think, and it's actually hurts physically very badly, it's not only mentally thing... Used to hate addicts when I was younger, but now I understand some people. Still clean and sober myself, but I believe If I had a chance, I would use everything right now, and probably would overdose on purpose.

Something was wrong with her for a long time. not a fan, but still, sad. I believe people hating on her but it she really was depressed, it's not right then.

I've known/know women who remind me of her and in each case, it was sexual abuse that was the root cause. Speculating of course but it looks like it has something to do with some sort of PTSD. Throw someone like her into the music industry and it's a toxic situation.

Here's an interesting article about one of the causes of depression...

Quote:
Psychoanalysts have long believed that anger towards others gets turned against ourselves. Our anger converted into self-hatred causes depression. Karen Horney (see Monte, 1980, or any theories of personality book) wrote that the basic problem starts with neurotic parents who are inconsistent (both overindulgent and demanding), lacking in warmth, inconsiderate or openly hostile, or driven by their own needs. The child resents these things. But parents are powerful and a child's only means of survival. So, because of fear or love or guilt, the child represses the anger. The child, being small, alone, confused, and helpless in an unpredictable, hostile world, is, of course, scared. How does the child protect itself? The child, aware of his or her weakness, the criticism of others, and his or her own hostility and fears, develops a "despised" self-concept. Also, the resentment of others has been turned against the self: "I am unlovable, a bad person." At the same time, the child starts to develop a notion of an "ideal" self--what he/she should be--in order to survive and get the love and approval he/she wants. This ideal self, trying to compensate for weakness and guilt, sets up impossible demands, called neurotic needs. These needs are unconscious, intense, insatiable, anxiety-causing, and out of touch with reality. For instance, if one has a neurotic need for affection, it becomes urgent to be loved by everyone, all one's peers, all the family, teachers, the paper carrier, etc. Horney listed several neurotic needs, primarily needs for perfection, power, independence, and affection. All are attempts to handle the primitive hostility from childhood. So, how do we get depressed? In extreme cases, some people become so self-effacing, i.e. compliant, unselfish, and modest; they almost do away with their "self." Suffering, helplessness, and martyrdom are their ideals. They need to be loved, liked, approved, important, but taken care of. Their "solution" is: "If you love me, you will not hurt me." But beneath this saintly, goody-goody surface sometimes boils the old anger, rage, and strong urges to be aggressive and mean. Besides, love never runs smoothly--remember everyone must love them--so these kinds of dejected people may turn against themselves, becoming very self-critical and unhappy. Often they have also become bitter because the unwritten agreement was broken, namely, "I'll be nice and not hate you, if you will love, respect, and care for me always." People striving for sainthood often suffer because others will not always put them first.

Interesting stuff Aar. Thanks for posting.

Sadly there is also a very clinical and measurable affect that substance abuse has on the human brain that will lead the healthiest psyche into depression. It's widely know (at least I thought it was) that opiates, alcohol, and specific narcotics have a very substantial side effect of of bouts of depression due to chemical imbalance. Opiates are the worst.

Amy Winehouse, is an example of many young famous people who were into the dug scene and also Manic Depressive. What happens is that the manic depressive is also, as a result of their condition, very recluse psychologically and as result very artistic and introspective. They make great musicians and song writers.

When you combine however, manic depression, with substances that themselves create depression, the highs are much higher, and the lows sadly, are much lower. It's measurable, and sadly, it's predictable.

I don't criticize this young woman, I only feel bad for her, and those like her still alive tortured and caught in that horrifying cycle. I hope there is peace where she went.
