Hey guys,

Thought I'd share this article. it's written by a friend of mine and Barracuda's. He's been in the "biz" for a long time and knows how it all works. It's a good read.... Hope it's worth something to you all....

I liked his article; agreed with it, but couldn't believe some of the comments.

On every Toronto site like this, commenters only slag the writers. These trolls live for it. Dave must've developed a thick skin to deal with that crap daily.

I disagree with the article since it seemingly blames the "rock and roll musician's lifestyle". Pressures exist for everyone, including athletes and the laymen. Drugs and especially alcohol are easily available too. Addiction is a problem for weak-willed people. I don't have much sympathy for them. She should've had better self-control. She had the choice of changing her environment, at least for a time being. She should've listened to her body rather then her crackhead friends.

Everyone is going the die. Perhaps the planet is overpopulated... perhaps humas are a disease to the super-organism of earth... and death is nature's way of curing herself. I rather have the grim-reaper take Amy Winehouse, a person who abused drugs and alcohol, then a young innocent child that suffered a similar fate because of some inherited genetic disease.

Dave seems to be sympathetic to Amy's plight, but then he calls Doherty a 'loser'? I don't get that.

I think you might want to do a bit of research...

And since when is death a "one or the other" situation? Bringing up a diseased child in this topic is pretty irrelevant.

Addiction may be difficult to overcome but it takes a lot of foolishness to get in that situation in the first place.

On the other point, I see the world as nature vs. humans. I rather have nature take someone like Amy Winehouse over a more innocent soul. This is a philosophical topic and the "answers" are endless though.

Everyone is going to die. If you live a reckless lifestyle then I don't feel bad for the reaper to cut it short. She partied for a decade and the risks took their toll. She made the choices... no one put a gun to her head saying to drink and snort coke. 500 years ago people would've been contempt living to the age of 30.

Aar, his calling Doherty a loser was only because he wasn't providing anything, simply a symbol of gross over-indulgence. He and Hilton don't offer anything to society, they are celebrated for their ability to indulge simply because they were born wealthy.

And for the other guy. The article doesn't blame rock, it blames everyone involved in it for perpetuating the belief and culture that says "addiction is cool, artists who are addicted are worth more".

Do it mentally instead of typing a pointless reply for the second time. It's not a big deal that you disagree but perhaps write a rebuttal instead of an empty post if you do care to comment.

Its hard to rebut.... because you haven't fully understood the article. re-read it and try to understand whats being said. Not everything you're saying is wrong. We are all responsible for our actions. It's just that there are several shades of grey man.... they change on the fly too...

Both Winehouse and Doherty are manic depressives. Regardless of family wealth, this is really the cause of the behaviour I think. So, to label one a loser and the other not, is a little misguided. Paris Hilton doesn't belong in the conversation. That's a whole other deal.

The drivel you spew isn't worth the effort.

It's worth the effort to let you know how asinine you sound, yes, but not worth the effort to debate you and your ridiculousness.
