Advice Needed!!!!!

I'm 19 years old and I don't have my g2 license
An hour ago, I crashed my brother's car into a glass pane at a store and I fled the scene. I called and talked to the store and offered to repay them the damages. My car is okay, but the glass is completely shattered.

Will the police/insurance get involved? If so, what will happen? Is there anything I can do for police/insurance to not get involved? Keep in mind I dont have my g2 or insurance on the car.The car has insurance, it's just not under my name (under my older brother's name)

btw, i live in the Greater Toronto area.

your dealing with a corporation. You better butter up the manager.

meelad92 02-06-2012 01:14 AM

^ I understand what you're saying, but what should I do other than pay for the damages?

DVS 02-06-2012 01:28 AM

well if you are trying to get away with it you may get yourself in bigger trouble. I wouldn't suggest it but you will have to cover all aspects. Ask the manager where he wants the glass fixed and do all the leg work blah bla h

I'm not trying to get away with it. I just don't want police/insurance involved (esp. considering I only have a g1 license)

^ I understand. I think I might just beg the store manager to not get the police/insurance involved. I will pay for all the damages of course.

Just be a man about it. Just go up to him and say "listen sir I will pay for this window, I will use whatever company you suggest me to use but please I offer to pay cash, credit, or cheque whatever you please".

If he was a smart man he would say yes and get his buddy to fix it and take some of the profits and overcharge you.

Thats the best way to get away with it.

Offer to be a slave for 3 months. Mowing the yard, painting, dogsitting, that kind of stuff. Smile and be nice, police won't get involved unless charges are filed.

if you were in a parking lot, i don't think you have to worry about only having your G1 licensing. i'm pretty sure it's legal to drive, at least it was when i was 16.

running away from the scene is the bigger issue. like what's said above, i'd offer some form of community service. i doubt they'll make you do it, but the offer will at least give them the opportunity to lecture you on being responsible.

You said the Business owner was fine with you fixing the damage.

So get it fixed ASAP and that's that. Don't call the police, and certainly don't involved your insurance company. You don't HAVE to use insurance.

Just make sure you don't dick the store owner around and fix the damn damage, like yesterday.

I talked to the assistant manager and they said the store manager will contact me. I'm not sure what he's going to say.

I just hope it isn't standard procedure for the store to involve police/insurance.

Also, thanks everybody for their advice, really appreciate it.

Become his butler, like on the show JERRY

Its been a day I'd go back to "the scene of the crime" and see if the manager is there or call at least.

My advice would be to not take "Drive Through" so literally, and pay attention next time.

Reminds me of my cousin. He once hit a parked Semi.

Like man how the hell do you accomplish such a feat.

i know of two instances where people were parking their cars and hit the gas instead of the brake. On one instance a girl drove into a starbucks store. Thankfully no one got hurt.

I talked to the store manager in the morning. I told him that I will of course pay for all the damages. I then asked him, 'what's going to happen next?', he said that 'Whenever there is property damage, I will need to take your insurance information and the police will get involved'. I replied 'can we not involve insurance b/c the insurance is not under my name, so i dont want my older brother getting screwed over for my mistake'. He said 'okay, that's fine' and then said he will call me back in the evening or night. Hopefully this guy is true to his word.

haha @ Benzo's comment.
