York: Pistons Looking To Acquire McGrady

Take it for what its worth, but Marty Dork .....oops, did I say Dork .... I meant, York ..... is reporting that there's alot of talk about Detroit talking with the Rockets in acquiring Tmac. :face4:

The Detroit Pistons, we hear, are making a big pitch to the Houston Rockets for perennial all-star Tracy McGrady.

Depending on what they would have to give up (and I would think at least Billups and Rasheed) and I think this would be a bad move for the Pistons. TMac would kill the teamwork on that team.

INSIDER 07-11-2008 02:06 PM

its probably Rip and Prince....and maybe a future #1.
no way they get rid of Billups.

I think they would get rid of Billups - just because they have Stuckey (he played pretty decent last year). Probably Billups and Prince for McGrady.

Billups is allegedly the one most likely to get moved, because, like Lyrrad just said, Dumars feels Stuckey can be a legit NBA starter.

I agree with him.

I would say this deal is good for both sides except one thing. Who would play 2 for Houston?

They could possibly slide Battier to the 2-guard. He's a good enough defender. Although if Tayshaun is part of the deal, it's probably a good assumption that Battier would be dealt for a true 2-guard.

INSIDER 07-11-2008 02:27 PM

houston will want Rip in return IMO.

MangoKidHoops 07-11-2008 02:31 PM

If they trade Rip, does McGrady play the 2? I think the Pistons value Rip more than Tayshaun.

Whoa

Billups and Prince for TMac would be a fantastic deal for the Rockets. Billups/Battier/Prince/Scola/Yao? Sign me up.

And on the other hand, Detroit gets to still make a run for the title for a few more years, as opposed to blowing it all up now and building on the fly around Stuckey, Prince, and Maxiell. Stuckey/Rip/TMac/Sheed/McDyess with Maxiell off the bench is still very dangerous.

From what i've heard over the last few months Billups will be the one to go this off season. So if they get TMac i'm almost positive he'd be the one or one of the pieces going to Houston.

Billups and Rip for TMac and Alston might also make sense

Stuckey/TMac/Prince/Sheed/McDyess

Wow what if the curse of TMAC comes to Detroit and they can't win a playoff series?
What if?

that would be the second greatest scenerio ever... after the raps winning of course.

Major 07-11-2008 05:26 PM

Well. Better for us no? If Pistons go through with this they'll be fucked, Houston is in the West anyway and Detroit will be worse this year. So I say GO FOR IT!!!!

Gurk 07-11-2008 07:44 PM

Anything to improve the chances of the raptors winning the championship
I am in
