TIMBERWOLVES VIDEO: Timberwolves 5-on-5 Scrimmage

JDMtors 12-13-2011 09:55 PM

Twolves are looking very bright with all their young players. Love is pretty much a beast on the boards and scoring. Derrick Williams was great with Arizona, a very atheltic bigman who can do a bit of everything. And Rubio is coming over. so we finally get to see his talents here. Unfortunately he doesnt have much of an offensive and defensive game, but he is like Nash 2.0

Ill say their projected starters are

Rubio/Flynn
Johnson/Webster
Beasley/Randolph
Williams/Miller
Love/Milicic

Carlito Caliente 12-13-2011 10:13 PM

looking way better than our roster.....wish we can be like them a couple years later as they've been rebuilding for a while now

Windex 12-13-2011 10:28 PM

they've been tanking 2 years earlier than us

No way in hell does Love play C.
Rubio/Ridnour
Johnson/Webster
Beasley/Williams
Love/Randolph
Milicic/Tolliver/Pekovic
As of now. I'd maybe trade Beasley or somebody for a C if I were the Wolves.

Milicic was pretty solid last season.

Their roster is impressive but I would just shrug and say they are still going to suck, being Wolves... if not for Rubio. Ricky Rubio will open up the potential of that team

LKeet6 12-14-2011 05:41 AM

t'wolves should've been doing decently well for a couple of years now. they don't seem to play together well.

bad mix of skills among their players? or deliberate tanking?

LX 12-14-2011 07:14 AM

Rubio hasn't played a single game in the NBA. Neither has Williams. They'll be more interesting to watch, but that's about it at this point.

I think it would make sense. He's strong enough. Smallish but strength and positioning is in abundance. Defensively, he struggles at 4 more than at 5. He's been awesome last year at center, more so than at PF.
Also, his outlet passes are awesome --- and if you go small ball with quick smaller guys at 3 and 4, you utilize that better.
I'd give a Williams-Love frontcourt a very long look, and try to find a 3. Try to package Beasley and Randolph (if they still have value). I think that's what they are aiming for btw, we've heard too many rumors about Granger-to-Sota (and such) for it to be all bogus.

The east looks scarier then the west now.

Besides the Lakers, I think the Timberwolves are the only other team to use the triangle offense. It could be that it is a nightmare for players if you don't have the right coaches to teach it. I don't think Flynn liked the triangle offense.

ah yes, i remember hearing about that now. Shoula've just kept it simple with young players in a struggling team. The talent was there to be a lot stronger. I still think tanking was on their agenda.

Scully 12-14-2011 11:32 AM

Ridnour will be starting at PG.

Carlito Caliente 12-14-2011 02:54 PM

they have a good coach in Rick Adelman....just think of the Wolves as the Kings back in the day. Rubio could be Jason Williams and Love could be Divac.

YES LOVE CAN PLAY CENTER!

They are just missing a good forward like Webber, but maybe Derrick Williams can make up for that as he's an athletic freak.

LX 12-14-2011 03:12 PM

They are not going to resemble the Kings back in the day in any way shape or form. They'll be lucky if they resemble Adelman's Rockets from last year.

Carlito Caliente 12-14-2011 03:23 PM

not one bit? :sigh:

ValanciunasFanboy 12-14-2011 03:48 PM

mmmm the Kings num num num
i could wait for that even if it takes 5 years :) i'd take my bandwagon rooting talents over there in a heartbeat

but they'd need A LOT more passing talent to resemble them in any way.
To me Webber's Kings = the sweetest passing team of all time. That's the essence, everything else is secondary.
Now, Love is a very good passer but he's not Vlade or not yet.
I'll believe in Rubio (but then they need someone who can shoot even better than Peja next to him!).
And obviously Webber was not just athleticism, he was the only real point power forward ever!
Love and Rubio's a start though.
