T Wolves Wolves to hire Adelman or Nelson

To me, if those are the numbers....Adelman is a no brainer. I would take him over Nelson anyway.

Who would you rather have if you had the choice?

Rick Adelman still appears to be the favorite to become the next head coach of the Wolves, but his price tag may be prohibitive.

Adelman seeks a five-year deal worth $5 million annually.

David Kahn has been reportedly telling people around the league that the team's next head coach will either be Adelman or Don Nelson.

Nelson would be willing to sign a three-year deal worth $10 million annually.

Wolves should be looking for a younger coach that can grow with the team, not someone who's going to retire at the end of the season.

Depends how young? IMO a young team needs someone with significant experience, someone who commands respect and can put them in the best situations to succeed.

Well not like Spolestra young, but someone like Mike Budenholzer from San Antonio would be a pretty good fit in Minnesota if you ask me. I just don't see the benefit in hiring a guy who is more than likely to retire at the end of the season.

Rick Adelman is the new head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to two sources.

Kevin Love first broke the news on Twitter that the Wolves were closing in on a deal with Adelman.

Adelman was most recently head coach of the Rockets.

Minnesota's other two primary candidates were Don Nelson and Sam Mitchell.

Bryan Colangelo.

I didn't think it was possible to get Adelman before. It's not like he took a massive pay check. And the Timberwolves have some young assets, but they probably will not make the playoffs for several years. I like Casey, I think Adelman's experience would better benefit the Raptors.

Well, it was reported that BC contacted him and he wasn't interested. I guess he prefers Minnesota. Ouch!

Some BS speculation!

Quote:
There was, however, one interesting point raised in the twitterverse last night – I believe first by my good and learned friend S. Aschburner:

Why would the Timberwolves, not known for their financial largesse, bestow such riches on a coach now when there’s nothing for him to do because of the lockout. It’s not like Adelman had a lot of other options – the Minnesota gig was the only one left out there to take – so why wouldn’t everyone wait at least a couple of weeks.

Is it that the Timberwolves and Minny owner Glen Taylor – who is strongly tied to the labour talks – know something might be looking good on that front?

Pollyanna-ish? Sure but why not think that way.

--- MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves are bringing in Rick Adelman to try and turn around one of the NBA's most downtrodden franchises.
