I still think KG can get you a bit better. Whether it's just for a year or two, he can totally change the culture of your team, which can last long term. He's that much of an impact and can be that last piece to get you to atleast the conference finals. Two late first rounders and fuckin' Deandre Jordan? Two first rounders in next year's draft are OK due to the supposed star potential and such, but Jordan is fucking terrible.

I would rather have kg for the next two years over deandre Jordan, cant believe the contract he got, only two ways to get paid as a center, play great defensively or be great offensively

sound pretty simple, well Jordan can't do any of that, only real skill he has is putting away lobs

I guess if your goal is to get the first overall pick you would want this guy to start or years

The Los Angeles Clippers have called off trade talks with the Boston Celtics on a deal involving Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett.

The Celtics were seeking DeAndre Jordan and two future first round picks in exchange for the right to hire Rivers as head coach and Garnett.

The Clippers will move forward with their coaching search with Byron Scott meeting with Donald Sterling on Tuesday and Brian Shaw on Wednesday.

The Celtics were insistent on Eric Bledsoe's inclusion earlier in the talks.

Danny Ainge has confirmed to the Boston Globe that talks with the Clippers are dead.

Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Clippers had "cold feet" on the financial aspects of the deal. The Clippers refused to give in to the Celtics' demands for a second first round pick, but Rivers' $35 million contract over five seasons and Jordan's $3 million trade kicker proved too expensive.

Would you trade DeRozan for both Rivers and Garnett?

rivers doesn't want to coach a rebuild. garnett wouldn't waive his no trade clause to join the raps. this is silly.

and carp is once again successful showing us he can insert derozan into any conversation.

He is a top coach but certainly not worth a first rounder of a rebuilding team. Besides, Rivers was going to follow KG to the Clippers to have Paul and a chance at Howard. I highly doubt the Raptors could make themselves look that attractive lol

This trade, depending on when the first rounders were going to happen....it seems odd - if the trade does happen then the Clippers/Boston would have late first rounders anyways for a couple years and the money to keep KG is insignificant and Doc is worth every penny...I would think there is more to the story; if Boston is insisting on Bledsoe I could see that killing the deal just on itself. If I were the clippers and had to choose, I want Howard more than KG/Doc (those 2 would just be gravy). I wonder if Clippers reluctance to part with Bledsoe has more to do with an increasing chance for a sign and trade with Howard?

Rivers will probably go back to the booth if Boston blows it up.

Couple of times but in different variations....they want to be dance partners but the girl is unhappy that the boy is shorter, though they still want to dance.

The Los Angeles Clippers are seeking approval from ownership to complete a deal for Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett.

The hope is that Donald Sterling will approve the financial commitment and finalize the agreement on Thursday.

The Clippers will send DeAndre Jordan and two first round picks to the Celtics, according to sources.

Rivers is accepting the job assuming Chris Paul will re-sign with the Clippers.

"Doc is taking the job to coach Chris Paul," a league source told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday. "This isn't happening if Chris planned to leave."

Paul communicated to the Clippers that hiring Rivers and trading for Garnett was essential to him re-signing in July. Paul's pushing for the deal forced the Clippers to reengage with the Celtics on Wednesday.

I saw that, just a matter of time I think though Sterling has made some wonderfully weird/odd/asinine bb decisions for years so one never knows.

If it does go through then I have no doubts you'll see Howard there...that could very well be the team to beat next year if they can secure Howard. No doubt in my mind that it will happen - it would really be the only face saving move for the Lakers.

I really cant see LAL trading with LAC. The thought of KG and Howard together is incredible though, they'd literally be the perfect front court, as their skills and playing styles would compliment one another beautifully.

But if this trade does go through, this is massive for LAC even if they dont trade for Howard. KG will give them a real defensive presence unlike Jordan, and he can spread the floor for CP and Blake to operate. Plus the knowledge that KG will be able to give to Griffin, as well as practicing against him for the 1-2 years he's there will be huge for his development. The key then will be to find capable starters at the 2-3 positions, and obviously re-signing Barnes and filling out the bench.

As the world turns....

Quote:
The NBA informed the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers days ago that their trade centering on Doc Rivers being sent to the Clippers with Kevin Garnett -- even if broken into two separate transactions -- is not permitted under league rules, according to sources.

There is no separating the two moves at this point because it is clear all pieces are meant to be part of the same deal.

"The teams are aware that the collective bargaining agreement doesn't authorize trades involving coaches' contracts," Stern said Thursday on a radio show.

The only incentives other than player contracts that are permitted in NBA trades, Stern said, are draft picks and cash.

"The teams know that," Stern said. "It has been confirmed to them. ... It can't be gotten around by breaking it up into two transactions."

Still why can't Doc formally resign and then just take the Clippers job under the permission of the Celtics? Who cares if it's part of the same deal?

Interesting that the league is stepping in....not like Doc was technically going to go into the trade.
