No way he falls to #6 because of a foot injury...

Adrian Wojnarowski ✔ @WojYahooNBA
As Jeff Goodman reports, Joel Embiid suffered a foot injury. Cavs want to workout Dante Exum for No. 1 spot now too, sources tell Yahoo.

Bill Simmons ✔ @BillSimmons
Also hearing Cavs were scared off by Embiid's foot, now focusing on Jabari or Wiggins (Jabari is the favorite). Unbelievable turn of events.

Bill Simmons ✔ @BillSimmons
Also hearing that Arn Tellem wanted Embiid to go first... but if that can't happen, he's going to push hard to steer him to Boston or LA.

Also - major ramifications for Boston's potential Kevin Love deal. Can't see them giving up the farm for Love if Embiid might fall to 6.

Hmmmm, back concerns and now if he has a broken foot. Wonder how far he could fall if that's true?

Why would that surprise you? Bad back AND stress fractures/breaks in his feet? He could spend more time on the bench than Lopez.

After Oden and then GM's watching Lopez riding the pine with his busted feet more than playing I can see some nervous nellys out there - I would.

Hasn't this happened to him when he was younger?

Feet are freaking complicated. They never fail to amaze me as natural engineering wonders.

Yea i doubt that 5gm's will pass on him, nervous or not. He seems to be franchise changing player.

Not if he's on the bench. Though looks like his agent would prefer he drops to Boston if he does start to slide. Wonder how many strings good 'ol Arny can pull to get him to a bigger market like Boston or LA to offset missing out on the 1st pick.

Personally, I'd love Celtic green on Embiid instead of Love.

Rondo/Bradley/Green/Sullinger/Embiid has some nice potential plus they still have their 17th pick for an SF if they wanted to trade Green still.

I think Embiid will end up being picked by Milwaukee at 2. They are in desperate need of talent and I honestly don't see them letting him slip away.

All those teams need help now, not in January.

I think he's out of the top 5 easy. Kings need a center.

I try not to think about the Bucks situation. You have to dig deep into a depressive mode to analyze what has happened in Milwaukee. It will take you down a dark, gloomy road with graffiti tags saying "Seattle needs a team".

He has the same stress fracture in his foot as Yao and Z had, so its unlikely he'll be in the top 5 now. I just wonder how far he'll fall.

This really sucks. He looked like a franchise type prospect. Legit 7 foot talents just cant stay healthy. Horrible news.

Yeah a few different reporters confirmed that on twitter. If I'm a team with two picks in the draft like PHI and ORL, I'd take a chance on him with my 2nd pick. I dont know how you can take him earlier than 10th, despite all of the mock drafts still having him in the top 5. He's going to miss most of the year with this injury I think, but hasnt been confirmed, and he already has two of the worst injuries big men can have with back and foot injuries especially. I love Embiids game, but hes too big of a risk for a rebuilding team IMO unless theyre prepared to lose for the next 2 years and lose a lot. I dont even know if BOS or LAL would take him.

You're probably right in that he will more than likely fall out of the top 5. The only reason why I think Milwaukee takes him is because 1) They are in a total rebuild mode and need a franchise player to build around.

2) With Embiid being injured and their roster looking pretty bad on paper they could easily take the tanking route once again (I don't agree with tanking, but I see them going this route) and get another high draft pick for next years draft, thus adding a solid player to pair with Embiid for the future.

3) Wiggins will surely be going #1 now and if the Bucks pick Parker they will win more games then they would have with an injured Embiid, thus hurting their chances of getting a higher pick in next year's draft.

The only downfall to not picking Parker at 2 is if Embiid turns in Greg Oden 2.0 then the Bucks will be screwed for many more years.

Foot and back? He will drop hard. Remember how Jared Sullinger dropped to 21st due to back problems? And to this the foot issues I don't see a lot of GM who will be willing to take the risk for such a high pick.

Except Milwaukee has new ownership, and new ownership never wants to tank in their 1st year. I dont think theres any doubt they'll end up with whomever CLE doesnt take out of Parker/Wiggins. Embiid, especially with the news that the fracture is the same fracture that ended Yao/Z/Waltons careers, is definitely going to drop at least 4 spots, if not more, IMO. Milwaukee isn't going to take that risk, its suicide, they're in a bad enough spot as is with their attendance and fanbase, tanking another year and having their lotto pick not play for most if not all of the year would be catastrophic.
