SOB...

Quote:
In a dramatic move that would resuscitate their fading championship hopes, the Boston Celtics are discussing a deal with the Washington Wizards for forwards Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Friday.

The proposed deal would send the expiring contracts of Ray Allen, Brian Scalabrine and J.R. Giddens to the Wizards, a move that would signal the start of Washington’s rebuilding process.

The trade isn’t imminent, but talks have progressed and Celtics GM Danny Ainge has positioned his organization to make one of the boldest trade deadline moves in years. For the Celtics, ownership would have to agree to take on an additional $24 million in salary next season between Jamison and Butler. Jamison makes more than $15 million in 2011-12, but most owners are discounting those salaries because of an assumption that there will be a labor lockout and some, if not all, of that money will never be paid to the players.

I doubt it. A bunch of expirings + maybe a pick is exactly what they're looking for.

Rondo
Butler
Pierce
Jamison
Garnett
Rasheed
Perkins
Daniels
House

I can't think of a better team on paper.
Ever.
If this happens, and they have any chemistry at all, its over for everyone.

If they make this move at the deadline I think Ainge is a moron.

Really, their starting 5 are fine and I think Thriller alluded to it earlier but their main problem is back up PG. Once Rondo is out, they struggle to do anything. All this trade does is infuse them with additional talent that need the ball to succeed and that's fine but the risks of ruining their defensive chemistry plus offensive chemistry is really really high.

The best trade they could make is Augustin for Davis. They make that trade then I'll argue they're the best suited in the east to win.

Actually I think its a bigtime upgrade. Theyre clearly not winning with how they are constructed right now unless KG becomes 20 and 10 KG of 2 yrs ago, and I dont think that going to happen as hard as it is for me to say.

So they get an upgrade at the 2, ESPECIALLY defensively, where they have struggled a lot of this season, and Jamison who was awesome off the bench in DAL and can really fit on any team because hes just that type of player.

Assuming they do this deal is also assuming they do the Augustin deal as well, because why have Baby on the books if hes the 3rd string PF?

Rondo, Augustin, House
Butler, Daniels, House
Pierce, Jamison
KG, Jamison
Perk, Sheed

Thats pretty scary, especially if Butler fits in quickly with the starting 5, theyre going to be a nightmare defensively, and theyll finally solve their scoring problems off the bench.

+1

If Doc manages the pieces properly (ie..minutes), this could be a deadly lineup. The scenario Thriller outlined makes sense and could work well, in my opinion. Jamison's ability to play a bit of SF might be valuable against a team like the Lakers who have the option of using Odom at the SF with Bynum and Gasol. Jamison's mobility would provide some flexibility to Boston's bench. This is also one heck of an inusrance policy should an injury occur. If the Celts pull this off, I hope they either have massive chemistry problems, or do well enough to quickly advance in the standings so that the Raps don't play them in the 1st round.

It just occured to me that this deal benefits Boston in another way: it prevents another team in the East from getting Butler or Jamison. Most importantly, Cleveland doesn't acquire Jamison.

God damn, NO! The Wizards can get a way better deal than this. Like seriously, if they're going to start rebuilding, why give away good talent for cash? They're just going to end up getting a bunch of scrubs at the end.
