Wiretap: Jazz would trade anyone but Deron

Quote:
In the midst of a slump and facing a hefty luxury-tax bill, sources told Yahoo! Sports that the Jazz are open to trading anyone but point guard Deron Williams.

Utah has a payroll exceeding $77 million with five players making at least $9 million this season.

The problem is they want to shed some salary while also remaining competitive and in the playoff race.
Who would you want?

at this point i agree with insider that brewer is currently better than demar. the thing is that brewer doesn't seem to me to be a guy with a high ceiling. he just isn't improving. i hope demar can be a great player one day, but we won't see that if he's glued to the bench.

although he is decent, brewer isn't enough of an upgrade to sit derozan and reduce his opportunities to learn.

As long as DeRozan plays solid defense, I think we're fine. When we get stops he's insane in the open court...and it's obviously gnona take some time for him to become a great player, but it's not long until he's better than Ronnie Brewer

we need a defensive SG who does the blue collar dirty work?

Brewer doesnt get much pub, but he does a shit load of work on the court and plays within a strict system, under sloan.
he is top 5 in the NBA in steals, plays tight defense, doesnt need (or take) lots of shots (yet shoots at a high clip), and does the little things to help a team win.
last season he put up 14/4 with 2 steals a game.
sure, he's no game changer, but he is a winner, who wont take away from anyone on the floor and will make our guys better - especially on the defensive side of the ball.

If it were Brewer we brought in I'd love to see him in a sixth man role and finishing games. Pairing him with Turk or JJ would be deadly - great passers and a tremendous finisher. Awesome guy to have on the fast break. Elite defender as well.

Kirilenko is also someone I'd look at. Top-notch defender, great rebounder, can play both the 3/4 positions.

Then Wright would have to go.....and I think Wright can still be that shut down wing defender (he shut down RJ)

Jefferson averages 13 a game, he scored 12 on us shooting 50%.... i wouldnt call that shutting down, but i know what you're getting at.
in any case, wright's been a disappointed i think to everyone this season, he's a 7th or 8th man at best. i wouldnt be sad to see him go.
