Rockets Offer Brooks And Battier For Rubio

Jun 29, 2009 2:00 AM EST
Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News reported that the Wolves turned down a deal with the Houston Rockets that would have resulted in Aaron Brooks and Shane Battier headed to Minnesota for Ricky Rubio.
Obviously, not enough...

i'd think long and hard about that if i were the wolves. battier is awesome and they need swing players... and brooks would be a great tandem with flynn at the point... rubio's value isn't huge right now given the uncertainty.

I think that if Rubio keeps up this behaviour, later on they'd be lucky to get this deal.

Wow, that's a lot to give up for Rubio. Houston must think quite highly of him.

Houston gives up 2 quality starters for an unproven rookie and the Wolves turn it down, why?

this trade would be bad for Houston b/c Artest would leave since they have no shot at the title

just be Rubio or Lowry/?/?/Scola/Yao

That would of been a good deal for both teams.

i dont see how Minny says no to this.
this would be the ideal trade for them IMO...
they already have a potential future top PG is Flynn... they would get Brooks who could be a stud (he showed alot of what he can do in the playoffs, and was impressive)... and most importantly they get a veteran team leader in Battier (something this young team is dying for).

yet they turn that down for an unproven Rook who is second guessing his choice of playing for them.

What could they get from NY that's better than this deal, or maybe they're holding out for something better?

Wolves fans have to be furious at this point. It seems like one long tortuous joke.

Six months from now, Minnesota will wish it had made this deal.

on the flipside, 2 years from now, maybe minny made the right choice. rubio is a gamble, although i do agree with you and think that david kahn made the wrong choice. i still don't understand why they drafted two pgs, one after the other...

this would be a stupid trade for huston IMO......rubio is unproven, eventhough i think he will be good, it still doesnt cha nge the fact that he is unproven in the NBA.....brooks is gonna be insane next year, his playoff performance showed what he is able to do.....and battier is one of the better defenders in the league and can light it up any time offensively......i dont see why huston would do this.....
