Wilson Chandler signs 5 year 37 million dollar contract

The Denver Nuggets have agreed to terms with Wilson Chandler, according to the Denver Post's Benjamin Hochman.
The deal is reportedly worth $37 million over five years (including this year). He will be available as soon as Monday when the Nuggets host the Mavericks. Chandler averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 21 games last season with the Nuggets, but will have to compete with Danilo Gallinari, Corey Brewer and Rudy Fernandez for playing time. Although he could struggle initially while getting back into the flow of things, those numbers are more than attainable. Chandler isn't a must-add, but is worth a look if you have space on your roster. Mar 18 - 6:03 PM

so about 8m annually. ugh :sigh:

Alex 03-18-2012 07:21 PM

7+ mill a year?

edit: or 8 :cookie:

That's about right. I'm guessing he told BC he wanted closer to 10Mil to come here instead of staying in Denver. Smart move by BC if that's the case 50Mil/5yr deal would have been too much, especially the length. Just a guess though.

I dont understand Wilsons thinking. He'll play 25 mpg at the most off the bench in the prime of his career.

Its a good signing for DEN as theyll have a ton of assets to be able to trade with in the offseason to possibly turn in to draft picks or a couple of high level players.

oh well, guess we are going to get our SF through the draft

gosh dang that's a lotta bread. Good move, great complimentary player for Gallinari.

7.5 million a year for Chandler. Probably would have taken more to lure him to Toronto.

Meanwhile JJ and Forbes have been putting up Chandler like stats recently:
Chandler Game by Game Stats
JJ Game by Game Stats
Forbes Game by Game Stats

Granted, Chandler is very consistent and gets blocks, steals, and assists every game, but I think it is more fun to watch guys develop into Wilson Chandler than to actually have Chandler. JJ and Forbes need to become more consistent, and Forbes needs to work on his defense, but I assume that isn't impossible. Hopefully next year every Raptor will get at least one rebound, assist and steal per game.

hmm.. that would be a nice contract, just about rite.. prolly 40mil, but who knows, after next season will determine how much raps will give him

Kirby 03-31-2012 12:57 AM

apparently it's only worth 32m.

Wilson Chandler's contract was widely reported to be worth $37 million over five season, but sources say the number is actually $31.7 million.

That's about the right size contract for him. Hope he does well in Denver.
