Default Will an NBA team hire Laimbeer?

Quote:
This is all you need to know about Bill Laimbeer's NBA coaching aspirations: He wanted to show he was serious about coaching, so he quit on his team. He won three championships with the Shock. Yet no NBA team will touch him. And still Bill Laimbeer is searching for answers. I think I know what the problem is. People in the NBA do not like Bill Laimbeer. And whether Laimbeer wants to admit it or not, he often has carried his persona off the playing floor. I know Pistons fans love him, and that's great. But sometimes Laimbeer has to brighten up just to be called "dour." There are a few different personalities that can work with NBA stars. Laimbeer does not have any of them.

I despised Laimbeer as a player. He was one of those guys you really, really hated, unless they were on your team.

Maybe he should try coaching at the collegiate level?

The guy knows basketball, hands down. Hell, he was one of my inspirations playing basketball.

Why he doesn't get a shot is beyond me. Because he's grumpy/mean? Really? That's the best excuse we can come up with. In an era where players are coddled and treated with kid gloves, a guy like Laimbeer would be a breath of fresh air.

Dude, did you ever see Laimbeer play? I'd welcome him as a coach on this team. He could teach them a thing or two about heart and toughness.

Laimbeer would make a wicked coach. But how would NBA players respond to his shtick? I don't see the egos of the league meshing well with such a hard ass. I'd say his philosophies and coaching style are more suited to the collegiate level.

Laimbeer is a good defensive coach. Maybe he should start off as an assistant.
